It looks like he's playing on the right of a 4-3-3

The assist wasn't the flashiest. However, a few minutes earlier he made a lovely play with a backheel pass in the box that possibly should have resulted in a goal.

Wow... he looked fantastic. 1st assist and could have had another... that backheal pass was sic. Also caused turnovers w/ his hustle... one leading to a goal. Looks like he is on his way.

I have never watched a Salzburg game before, but I had read they play direct, vertical, high tempo. Even still, I wasn't prepared for how insane their style of play is.

The crazy thing is that they play the exact same way against Bayern Munich or Liverpool.

Kid looked great! Nice defending, great unselfishness to resist a shot on goal for a better pass. On my full debut, I'm probably shooting that sucker. I'm hopefully gonna eat crow for my previous comments, he looks better here than I thought he would. Will be interesting to see him against some top notch competition.

    which is what should happen.

90+% of teams everywhere adjust approach to perceived level of opponent...and when a team is playing up a level or two they generally play passively and end up reaffirming their perceptions.

I see it with the USMNT...and I hate it. You are doing half the job of the opponent when you become timid.

I really hope this doesnt happen with USMNT and GGG but I think it is just so ingrained in us soccer culture that it will be hard to resist.

I was wonder why they were simply pushing the ball into open space and letting the players race too it. Haven't seen that style of play since college.

To me he sounded like a basketball announcer with nothing else to do on a Wednesday afternoon. "Daka from WAY downtown." Also, he didn't seem to know the term dummy and was quite surprised when it happened.

Brenden really needs to work on his passing. Not bad otherwise though.

This was his biggest MLS flaw as well. He certainly is not a finished product and it bodes well that he can come in and be pretty much at the level here that he was in MLS. It means the level of play for our young players is really stepping up.

I will say the physicality of play was much greater than MLS and it was pretty fast too. Watching Aaronson he had difficulty finding as much space especially on the turn as he was used to in Philadelphia.

Based on his MLS highlights, I thought passing was his strength, and had a couple nice ones in this match.

Apologies if I missed the sarcasm, but is passing really his weakness? And if so, what are his strengths besides that?

All in all, pretty impressive highlights for a kid brand new to the team.

In MLS, you get time and space on the ball by the tonnes. MLS defenders will let you run from the East Coast to California before even considering a tackle. A guy like Cristian Roldan could look like Cristiano Ronaldo.

He's gotten a rude awakening in Austria. Almost as soon as he gets the ball, at least two defenders are on his heels like a pack of African wild dogs.

What are his strengths? His pace. He seems to read the game fairly well too.
