Yeah I guess Koop is the best example. Although to be fair, Marsch did win a couple of MLS Supporters Shields and Austrian Bundesliga titles.
The overhead replay that I didn't see initially makes it clear it was a pass and not just a hopeful redirection, at least from my vantage point.
Happy for young man- but in seeing replay, looked like he stuck his foot out on a pass ahead of him, got a toe on it- and it luckily nutmegged the defender over to his colleague. So good for BA, but seemed mostly accidental. Am I wrong?
Brenden Aaronson created five chances against Bayern Munich tonight, the youngest player to create five chances in a Champions League knockout match since a 20-year-old Lionel Messi against Celtic, 14 years ago in February 2008. #lufc— Jonny Cooper (@JRCooper26) February 16, 2022
Someone said he looks a lot worse 2nd half- I don’t see that from those highlights. Yes he lost the ball a couple times trying to squeeze in a pass near their box but that’s gonna happen. Better that he tries. There was simply less room in 2nd half- Bayern played better and tighter. One time he lost in midfield- looked like a foul. He really was at/ahead of pace of game. Really nice to see. Hope he can continue that pace of play consistently.
The key thing I noticed him improve in the second half was that even though he as pushed off the ball and closed down so much more often and effectively - he was still getting in those spots and receiving the ball and trying things. I remember early even in the Austria league he wouldn't have these types of games, simply because he was invisible instead and uninvolved. His understanding of the game has improved to the point where he was still part of the game in the second half, even if Bayern elite physicality shut him down more often.
It is pretty impossible expectation that someone like BA- at his age and level of experience- could dominate Bayern for 90 minutes in a CL knockout game. The performance he put in was very good and he and fans alike should be very pleased.
Aaronson didn't even see the ball that much, making it all the more remarkable he created so many chances. Statistically he looked worse in the second half, but saw the ball even less. Even so, many of his passes were within a whisker of coming off, and had they succeeded, would have represented pretty enticing opportunities. I would have loved to have seen him on the ball more, but Bayern doesn't give you the luxury of means.

Salzburg finally score in the 90+3, and then Aaronson scores to make it 2-0 a minute later. Pretty unremarkable match overall. Aaronson might need a few days rest.
