Ramos might prefer to play as RB but has also said that he has no problems with playing in the center. He played in that position, two full seasons for us, so i would like to think that he was not "unhappy" during those times.

Cicinho on the other hand said that he only wished to play as a RB because that was his golden ticket into the Brazilian NT. The fact that he is warming Roma's is no surprise.

My guess is that Ramos would play central defender, defensive midfielder, striker, goalie or whatever and that he would do so in a completely professional manner.

I honestly don't think Schuster has him at RB to keep him happy.

He's in RB because he's best there, he has the attacking flair that i think would be wasted if he played in the centre where leaving a hole would be far more catastrophic. I remember seeing Sergio play RB for Spain in the world cup back when he was playing CB consistently and he was immense, i'd prefer to give Sergio the freedom to make those kinds of strong runs up the flank, he's pretty good at it.

Dont know if you guys would consider this offtopic, but in PES 2008 SR has got to score a goal every game for me. He is difficult to take down, and fast and has a killer shot. :D :D

Cicinho said he didn't want to play on the left, which is something he never did before and i agree with him.During that time, it was still uncertain if he'll stay, until then, he didn't say a bad word about anything related to Madrid.

Roma are using him whenever it makes sense, he played a fantastic game against Milan, and served a pretty good cross[for the Roma goal] for somebody who 'can't cross the ball' like many people said.

He was a good player, really thrown back by a tough injury. He's been a good professional, and i didn't see any of that 'constant' whining that a few people apparently see.If anything he both performed, and behaved a lot better than Diogo, who people actually wanted to see in Madrid again, even though he said 'he hated Madrid'.

I consider S.Ramos one of the best RB's in Europe right now.But i don't consider him to be one of the best central defenders. He's just better in RB for now, i think by the time he is 27 or so, that's when it will be worth considering to move him to the central positions.

About time Ramos gets some love...I have chatted with a few of my close friends
and 1 is a Madrid supporter, he doesn't rate him as highly as I do.

I'm glad I'm not the only one in the Sergio Ramos fan club.

    Bump.

It is strange reading through such and old thread. Anyway, Sergio has been fantastic this season, RB, LB and CB. :D

Edit: This thread has only 87 replies but is still the second most viewed thread in the history of this Real Madrid forum, EVER! I find that very strange.

Glad we can finally legitimately post in this thread again. Welcome back, Sergio Ramos. I told YS87 last year to have faith that he can turn it around and show why he is one of the best right backs in the world, and he has. I was never sure of it, but I had faith. ;)

Well, he is a worldclass player thats for sure. And I wont be surprised with a more compact team he'd turn in some phenomenal displays at CB with Pepe.

I'd personally want one of Pepe & Ramos to partner Albiol. Not for both of them to play at the same time imo they are too erratic although they are perhaps the most athletic CB duo in the world right now. I just feel there has to be one "tidy" CB alongside them like Albiol who's been our best CB this season.

I agree there, if there's one bummer about bringing in Maicon its that one of Albiol,Ramos&Pepe having to sit games on the bench.

A Ramos/Pepe CB pairing gives me heart palpitations for some of the same reasons already mentioned. If Ramos moves to CB permanently I'd much rather see him paired with Albiol or Garay.

While I agree with what you're all saying, I still would love to see a Pepe/ Ramos pairing, it would most definitely be the most entertaining CB pairing..
