I was wondering if anyone has seen this film and if so would they reccommend it? Also does anyone know when the U.S. release of the DVD will be?

    Thanks...

I ordered it from Amazon UK last week. Should arrive soon. I have a region free player so I don't have to wait for a US release(if there is actually one).

Seriously I think "MLSinHD" should be banned from starting new threads in the RM Forum!! Enough is enough!

Sorry guys I should have included it in another topic. I just happened to read some reviews and some said it was pretty good and others said it was bad. I figured I would go right to this forum because I assumed some here might have seen it.

Nah it's cool, you should just have opened those two threads (The beckham and the zidane movie one) in the Real Madrid NSR section.

Anyway, is it that movie where they follow Zidane's movements in the World Cup Final?

Aaah, checked the review, it's a Real Madrid match.I might watch this. :)

Off topic, but Zizou related: More MLS rumors, and he's not denying it straight away, maybe its partially true. I live in California but I'd buy a plane flight to NY and a game ticket to see the legend, never got the chance when he was at RM or with France. He'd better watch out, though, Domenech might try and force his hand in playing for France again, like he did with Makelele.

Anything about Zidane deserves a thread by itself.

its cool dude, he has every right to post in the board much better than doom and gloom threads...although the NSR subforum would be better:)

what are you talking about? you stay in UK right? this was released way back in the theatres in November or so I guess. Its a documentary style movie which followed ZZs moves in the Villareal game at the Bernabeu.

They used special cameras which even recorded his breathing sounds ... cameras specially imported from the US as these were used only by the US Army :) ... sometimes thy show the director interviews and 10minute clips on RealMadrid TV :)

nice movie -- especially if you like ZZ. Its great that soemone made a movie like this on him and too bad nothing of this sort was made on previous greats like maradona / Pele / Platini / Cryuff (I hate his guts) !!

watch it if you can !!

Re: Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait

Exactly what I thought (well, apart from the hating Cruyffs guts obviously)

I saw it two weeks ago and absolutely loved it. the match is against Villarreal and really has everything. Good thing they chose not to have any voiceovers, only quotes by zidane at times in text. It's really unique, and offers a perspective seldom seen.

Not to detract anything from Zidane, but what I noticed was that he was not very uhm, hands on I'd guess you could call it, with directing the play. Zidane is this legendary figure already, the creative lynchpin of the team, yet he is such an introvert, unlike, say, Cruyff, who could, even without a zillion camera's, constantly be seen telling his teammates what to do.

So while this unique perspective is part of what makes this film so great, I think the true football fan would appreciate a film like this from a number of players, for various reasons. Zidane is obviously a great choice, but how great would a film like this also have been when it's focus would be on someone like Cruyff, Redondo, Guardiola or Pirlo (note: that would be my personal selection. I think it would have been even better to follow both Redondo and Guardiola in the same game)

anyways, watch it if you like either football, Zidane, Real or cinema. Some of you might be lucky enough to like all 4 ;)

Hey, 3 out of 4 and it's still pretty enjoyable :)

Seriously though, I don't mean to Hijack this thread, so if I'm out of line, feel free to tell me so, but who else would you like to see a portrait of like this? Who am I forgetting, and why?

Cristiano Ronaldo. I would love to see the field level shots of him going at top speed. That is really when you have an appreciation of the ability of someone like CR.

“There is only one Zidane” - or is there?
Thats a little bit too much hype for a 19 year old kid, isn't it ?!
