I'm watching this game as though argentina was playing.

this game is about south america vs. europe

this game is about a brilliant team vs. FIFA

    VAMOS CHILE

You may whine about a FIFA conspiracy, but the tackles of Chile players were really awful. They could even be down by 2 men if the referee (Dracula?;-) had not been compassionate.

Bielsa is extremely nervous.. they just zoomed in on him and you could tell that his heart was racing. I can only imagine how he'd turn if the Swiss score on Honduras!

Chile can tie this: Spain has been playing with one man more since the first half, and you can't even tell.

10 minutes left, one goal needed.

At about the 80 minute mark this match became unwatchable, it was pretty clear both teams agreed they were happy with how things were playing out. Considering Chile played a large part of the game with ten as has been said, it wasn't noticeable. The way the ref called this game it was more like they were down two men.

Great that the 2 best teams of the group managed to go through. Of course, it would have been nice to have Spain face Brazil, but Chile should also be a good challenge for them.

I can actually see Portugal pulling off the upset without the need for penalties. It's hard to see but I do see it.

I'm actually more worried about a hypothetical match-up vs. Germany in the Quarters than facing Spain in the semis. Germany has a good team and I just have a bad feeling about facing them, while Spain has been rather unimpressive and I think we can beat them. Not saying we can't beat Germany (we did beat them recently in a friendly, after all), but I see them as a much tougher rival than Spain right now.

Well, I prefer the route Mexico - Germany than Chile - Holland. We should drop that loser mentality of always finding the other route simpler.

    :D Dracula indeed.

Chile outplayed Spain for the first twenty. But Torres lost a lot of respect from me. That was an accidental trip and he dived like he had been shot. Okay Astrada could have been sent off before that but there was no need for Torres to do that. Really poor.

As for Puyol and Busquets rolling around and Pique running to the referee brandishing cards.

Medel , Ponce, Sanches and Beausejour were immense. Such a shame the first two will miss the gme against Brazil but Chile do get two suspendees back ie Carmona.

Hope Bielsa can figure a way to knock out those arrogant so and so's. If they keep their discipline I reckon they could give them a run for their money.

Man, if they would do any of these tackles to our players, we would all be shouting. Apart from Busquets, who is a disgrace the way he rolls over, other players did not overreact. The stupid "rubbing of studs on Torres leg before getting up" technique in itself deserved a red.

Brazil road is not that simple. Chile,Holland,Uruguay? Sure we have Mexico,Germany,Spain. The Chileans can put up a good fight vs Brazil, that I can assure you of. Holland/Brazil should be a classic(if the Dutch do not choke away a game in the KO stages) and sure the semi-final game is not the hardest but Uruguay have a deep and dark history vs Brazil as well. But the Dutch game will be huge, the Brazilians looked like they can eat a goal or two on the counter. They have a balanced team and great players going forward.

Spain have Portugal which is always a bitter game. They get passed that, they have Japan or Paraguay(lol, I had to laugh at that for a second, because they got lucky there). Then they would face us.
