I can see some heads rolling, but this ought to be an eye opening story for those believing on a benign police:

Who should be forcibly driven to the ground for a minor traffic violation?

    It depends what he did.

If he did nothing wrong he has recourse.

“Upon being stopped, Mr Hill was not immediately cooperative with the officers on the scene who, pursuant to policy and for their immediate safety, placed Mr Hill in handcuffs. Mr Hill, still uncooperative, refused to sit on the ground and was therefore redirected to the ground. Once the situation was sorted out within a few minutes, Mr Hill was issued two traffic citations and was free to leave.”

That commentary is laughable. Firstly the predictable “not immediately cooperative” line and then the “therefore redirected to the ground”. Would be good to see the officers’ body cam footage - assuming they didn’t turn it off before all this transpired.

Actually he did and handed the officer his license. Then he rolled it up and only partially rolled it down again. Not sure how that justified the subsequent actions of the officers, including the behaviour to the two teammates - who had stopped to make sure the officers’ actions were being filmed - including handcuffing and putting under arrest one of them.

Man, these cops are such candy-asses! Being afraid for their "immediate safety" when a guy is sitting in his car with the window rolled up. Sends shivers up your spine!

In these situations they need to immediately test the cops for steroids. Did you see the cop's arms?

can someone please explain...the officer admitted initial speed was estimated at 60mph, so if they had no radar, would a visual estimation even hold up in court?

It’s pretty amazing watching the 100 in a 55 thing get legs and traction. It’s real time copaganda. Every tweet on the subject has a comment on it within 5 tweets of the original.

You mean to tell me the "well documented" syndrome of minority people in police custody just dying all of a sudden due to "undiagnosed heart conditions" is made up bull****?

    No way. (Party on Wayne!)

This is gonna be an unpopular opinion around here…but my reaction to that is similar to my reaction to when this happens to a sovereign citizen or a Karen.

I just don’t get the strategy of people acting like dicks to cops. My overriding desire when I get pulled over is “let’s see if I can get out of this.” Thankfully the thought of whether or not I’ll survive this never enters my mind. But it sure as hell didn’t enter Tyreeks mind either. Maybe if I had ******** you money I’d feel and act differently. But I’m a yes sir, no sir, I don’t know sir person at traffic stops.

Cops should not be allowed to beat you senseless, or murder you, because you're rude.

    Period. End of.

Depends what you mean by visual estimation.. If the officer "paced" Hill's car by pulling up behind him and matching speed's between his car and Hill's car, it would probably hold up in court. Also, before radar guns became ubiquitous, police were trained on how to determine how fast a car was going.

It is not illegal to be a dick to a police officer. It is, however, illegal to assault someone for being a dick. ;)

video shows the officer sitting on his cycle in the middle of the road and facing the oncoming traffic, but when asked later by another officer, he states that the estimated speed was at 60mph. I guess if visually trained then that might hold in court.

Wasn’t that Hill’s strategy initially when he says something like “bro just give me a ticket so I can be on the way”. I mean they aren’t the exact words I’d use but it’s certainly the way I’ve felt. I also don’t understand why the cop didn’t immediately take the license back to his motorcycle to check for outstanding arrest warrants etc. That’s the way it’s played out when I’ve been stopped for speeding. Of course I’m a harmless old white guy with a British accent…

Worked for me once. Had an appointment on Santa Fe for oral surgery once, left in plenty of time, but was held up in the Gorge for thirty-five minutes and then slowed by the congestion caused for 20 miles or so; so I was breaking the hell out of the speed limit every place it was safe to do so. 100 in a 60. Came over a hill on an empty road and there he was, radar on, and I was screwed; the oral surgeon was crazy busy and had already shoehorned me in and wouldn't have another gap for months.

The cop was not exactly sympathetic, and threw the book at me ticket and points wise-- it was three years before I dared go even one mile an hour over again-- but he heard me and he did the whole thing in about four minutes, and I was four minutes late to an appointment where 5 minutes late is a cancellation and they put the next person in the chair...

If course I wasn't a black guy driving above his color...
