The Peacock stream at the time had a USA logo on it so I assumed it was synced to the cable channel. I remember thinking that was odd because the PL games on USA don't get streamed live (or didn't in the past anyway I haven't tried recently).
I signed up for Peacock streaming for $10 and plan to cancel in a couple weeks. Started watching the men's downhill event and got hit with some ads. Quick upgrade to ad-free for an extra $5 and all is well.
John Ourand reports that "Gary Bettman has approached ESPN and TNT Sports about early renewals for [the NHL's] media deals ... But the networks don’t seem willing to commit to any kind of long-term deal until they know how much the NFL will ask for" in its renegotiated TV deals.— Sports TV News & Updates (@TVSportsUpdates) February 11, 2026 John Ourand reports that "Gary Bettman has approached ESPN and TNT Sports about early renewals for [the NHL's] media deals ... DC United wants you to stream the game on an app. Minnesota United has it on their website. Thx, Jay!
Thankfully not true. ESPN Unlimited subscribers get a discount, but you don't need to subscribe to ESPN Unlimited to subscribe to MLB.tv.
So, it looks like Season Pass won’t be available on DirecTV this year, which tracks, but MLS is losing two outlets (Xfinity) you could “turn on” and watch the games if you subscribed. Have to go through Apple, as far as I can tell. Thx, Jay!
So @MLS and @AppleTV have some tweaks for their 2026 #MLS TV coverage plans.I break down some of the key changes for @ForbesSports:https://t.co/kfZrKZBLox— Ian Nicholas Quillen (@IaqDiesel) February 12, 2026 So MLS and AppleTV have some tweaks for their 2026 #MLS TV coverage plans. I break down some of the key changes for ForbesSports:
The numbers don’t lie—MLS is now the 2nd most valuable TV property in all of the Americas! Trailing only the Brasileirão, the league's global reach via Apple TV has pushed its value past giants like the Argentine Primera División.#MLS #AppleTV #BusinessOfSports #InterMiamiCF pic.twitter.com/h9K7Y2t3Un— Daniel Solana (@DiceElDani) February 16, 2026
"2nd most valuable TV property?" Surely, just in terms of soccer rights. Or maybe this is the most valuable sports rights from the Americas in South America?
https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...valry-week-here-why-mls-changed-2026-calendar They clearly are trying new things this year. Three years of data and it looks like MLS and Apple TV are starting to figure out things need tweaking.
That's what made me think it might just be the numbers for South America. If you're in Brazil, who cares how Chivas is doing?
The actual chart says it’s a comparison of CONMEBOL to MLS, it’s the tweet that gets it wrong with “the Americas.”
Does Liga MX have a deal? It looks like it's independent deals with clubs and various media providers.
Premier League boosted by 25% rise in South American rights with £450m ESPN deal. South American and Caribbean partnership runs to 2031. Substantial rise contrasts with stagnant domestic rights https://t.co/xlPAhqL8RW— Łukasz Bączek (@Lu_Class_) February 17, 2026

When it comes to investing in its own TV product............ It's not Apple. MLS controls all production on Apple. It's MLS and MLS team investment in whatever you see on Apple.— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) February 18, 2026
It would have even more accurate to say that he was criticizing Apple TV. Then his colleague at The Athletic, Tenorio, chimed in to criticize MLS. In any event, the comments - from both - were critical. And I appreciate that. Oddly enough, I see that Tenorio worked for MLS, too; for four whole months in 2018 before he moved to The Athletic. What I care about is some semblance of an independent media that both covers the league and, when necessary, is critical of it.
