I wonder how much of NBC's English reach is because people just already have Peacock and didn't want to sign up for FoxOne or a bundle including the Fox channels.
I could count on one hand the times that I've agreed with Colin Cowherd on pretty much anything. But he's absolutely spot on here 👇(🎥: @TheHerd) pic.twitter.com/aMErk27L9j— USMNT CORNER (@USMNTCORNER) July 10, 2026
That's a legit question. OTOH, there's people who get both. In my case, my Fox is generally ahead of anything streaming. If I have the choice between "close to real-time" and "60-180 seconds delayed", I'm gonna take the "as close to real-time as possible" option. During MLS is Back, I noticed Fox Deportes had English-language commentary that was ahead of FS1/FS2. Naturally, that was my choice. I can't stand being delayed and just want to scream when people don't know why they get text messages about big plays then see them on their TV a few moments later. (I first noticed this internet-issue circa 2000-01 when listening to games and being in live chats.) Heck, SiriusXM's app is delayed from the radio. The line/mindset from 2006 was that "if the connection drops, there's a few seconds of buffer". Indeed, I'd ride a shuttle bus while listening via an iPod Touch circa 2011. The WiFi would drop, but I'd still be connected for a few more moments.
That's true. I personally signed up for a month of Fox One, but still watched probably a quarter of my minutes on peacock, which I did already have. Most of my at home watching ended up being on FOX ota via antenna due to FoxOne/Roku issues. If I could go back in time, I would have skipped signing up for Fox and just used antenna and Peacock out of home. My Telemundo affiliate has a poor signal, as does my NBC, ABC and CBS affiliate which all use the same shared tower. So I'm rooting for FOX to get the next cycle for OTA purposes, but I could survive with NBC if everything was on Peacock. Who knows what the streaming landscape will look like in 4 years though.
JP Dellacamera has announced this will be his last World Cup behind the mic, but he's not retiring from broadcasting all-together
World cup matches are getting double the ratings of NBA finals games and Twitter is full of "here is why soccer will never make it" takes. What are they, stupid?
The Olympics get huge ratings too. That doesn't mean a National Ice Skating League would get good viewership numbers.
America is all about big events. If MLS could keep10% of those ratings, I'm sure they would be ecstatic.
It's the algorithm. You view or comment on stupid posts you'll get more stupid posts. Just block them.
But the posts aren't "MLS can't make it" its soccer can't make it. The World Cup is specifically a soccer tournament, so if the World Cup has made it then soccer has made it. It just happens to be every 4 years instead of every year.
Not really. Usually its blue check types replying to things. The algorithm doesn't send me comments. It is, however, likely engagement bait.
I replied to Ted on X and now every freaking time I go to X, which is rare, the first post is from him or his cronies. I just turned off my Google Discover function on my phone so I don't get tempted to go there.
You got it, I know what he meant, check your post #685 , that’s the way I feel it, people are feeding stupidity with more stupidity.
Who is the top mens simmer in the world currently? This right here was a big event. Michael Phelps's most-watched Olympic races in the US drew staggering peak audiences, peaking at 39.9 million viewers for his record-breaking eighth gold medal swim in 2008 and 32.7 million viewers for his final career race in 2016. The US game had in the neighborhood of 50 million viewers. If MLS started averaging about 4.6 million a game and added about 35 million new subscribers to Apple TV, what do you think the next media deal might be worth and with who?
There would definitely be people wanting to talk that's for sure and I would imagine the 250 million a year wouldn't cut it.
The nice thing about that combo is they have multiple distribution mechanisms and a great back catalog that people are willing to pay a premium for. The Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones and Rapids v Earthquakes, it makes sense. I'd suggest Disney+ but that's a Mickey Mouse organization.
It's Pro/Rel season duh! This is their version of the telethon donation drives that Public Broadcasting Stations do. You mean Paramount then? Seeing as they are in the process of purchasing Warner Bros/Discovery (HBO/TNT).
The funny thing about Ted is years ago he would get a ton of likes but now he usually gets less than 10. Seems his crowd is tired and facing reality.
It's difficult to sell someone on the dream of being promoted to the professional ranks when the costs are the same or more than just starting a club in MLS Next Pro. You just need one of the million Americans with more than $10M to put their name to it and find the money for payroll, insurance, travel, FO and stadium rental. If that seems excessive, the average English D3 club lost $8 million in 2024/25. Living the dream!!
The only way I can ever see pro/rel happening here is if the owners are losing more revenue than they are currently making being a closed league. That's clearly not a problem right now but who knows what the future might bring.
Eh, people just see him for who he is on social media: a cranky old man. The hilarious thing is the backlash to Ben Fast, and JJ from Philly. Those two just regurgitate the same 2-3 talking points. As soon as you bring a valid point to the discussion they revert to name calling and personal attacks. "I only watch leagues with Pro Rel!" "I like that there are three new teams every season!" Rugby in England is better because of Pro?rel. England currently doesn't use pro/rel due to financial constraints...... Also, South Africa and New Zealand are among the best in the world (NO Pro/Rel). Ditto Ireland, Scotland and Wales...... Institute Pro/Rel and youth development and investment in the game will be unlimited!!! Then why hasn't anyone put the money up to start a new open pyramid? Stop protecting Billionaires!! USSF is corrupt!!! MLS and Don Garber want to control all soccer......... MLS Sucks!!! No Pro/Rel me no watchy!!! ..... blah, blah, blah....
