Pedro Soma (‘06) has only been with Barcelona for one week and he’s already training with the first team. This loan has the potential to go extremely well and even lead to a permanent transfer. One of the top USA U20 prospects to keep an eye on. https://t.co/YISdqPv3pA— American Ultras Talk (@ameriultrastalk) September 3, 2024
Not sure where this goes A look at the USYNT U18s who are headed to Japan to take on Japan, Peru, and a local club 👀Via @chai_asc pic.twitter.com/UWhyE3UDMu— Youth Soccer Central (@yscentral) September 4, 2024 The United States have called in 20 players to represent the U-18s in their upcoming friendlies in Japan 🇺🇸 They’ll face the local team of Niigata on the 12th, Japan on the 14th, and Peru on the 16th 👀 pic.twitter.com/JMpy6HK2r8— Footy Access (@footy_access) September 4, 2024
Not to be a downer, but it's always a little misleading to talk about players at big clubs training with the first team during international windows. At clubs like Barcelona, most of the first team is always away during international breaks and only a handful don't get called up. In September, Barcelona had 12 callups and another 6 players not released due to injury. Figueroa was also training with Liverpool during the international window. Sounds great until you realize Liverpool had 20 players called up this window. It's certainly not a bad thing to train with the remainder of players who weren't called up. But it doesn't reflect that the player is particularly close to the first team.
I recently spoke with one of Coventry's top attacking prospects, Aidan Dausch, about his development, his Championship debut in April, and his future - which he hopes includes a call-up to the U.S. U-20 team.https://t.co/uctPyu7dHA— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) September 20, 2024
right on schedule, match winner for the U-21s hours after the interview was published Hull's lead is short-lived. Aidan Dausch does what he does best and we're back ahead. 💼🐘 2-1 🐯 [68']— Coventry City Academy (@SkyBluesAcademy) September 20, 2024
I'm probably reading way too much into nothing, but Aidan is pretty good coming out of an average academy in Coventry. If Leo is coming through a better academy, he could be quite good?
Ok, then! The play I was talking about from Cole Campbell:#BVB pic.twitter.com/CDcGso8v7c https://t.co/J45ZRMFW2H— Daxo (@daxooo_) September 25, 2024
This is more U-17 related, but maybe it could be U-20 related too Earlier this year, Bronx-born Wesley Okoduwa made the bench for Wolves in Premier League games at the age of 15. In England, he is seen as a top prospect at right back. - Last week I spoke to him about a wide range of topics. Here's the interview, for ASNhttps://t.co/5Ced2AWCYN— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) October 3, 2024
Thanks for the story, @bshredder. Would you mind clarifying one thing? Your story says: But earlier this month for the September 2024 window, things became more interesting for Okoduwa when he was called-up by the U-17 teams for both England and the United States. Isn't he too old for the current U.S. U17s? I would've thought maybe he would've been called up to the U18s who went to Japan, with (perhaps as you suggest) a suggestion that he was essentially or also being considered for the U20 program.
he was born after Jan 1, 2008, so he’s eligible for the current U-17 team. I believe this is the tournament he was called up for https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...onal-team-roster-2024-vaclav-jezek-tournament “Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2008 are age-eligible for next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup.” Okoduwa’s DOB is 5/12/2008 https://www.transfermarkt.us/wesley-okoduwa/profil/spieler/1115502

If there is a U20 roster coming, it seems like it could be pretty interesting given how many guys who've been substantially involved with the program already are on this one.
U-20 roster is coming Not sure what's going on, guess we'll find out soon enough 🇬🇶🇪🇨🇲🇽🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸NEWS: Six #Quakes74 players called for International Duty for October international friendlies.— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) October 3, 2024 So this article says that Cruz Medina was called up to BOTH the USA U20s and the U19s, Niko Tsakiris to the U20s, and Oscar Verhoeven to the U19s. Verhoeven wasn’t on the U19 roster that US Soccer dropped earlier today, so I’m guessing he’s actually with the U20s alongside… https://t.co/YsDC4Oi4z3— American Ultras Talk (@ameriultrastalk) October 3, 2024 Medina, 18, will represent the United States Under-20 Youth National Team against Chile on Saturday, Oct. 12, and again on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Cruz will then represent the United States U-19 Youth National Team against Sweden on Friday, Oct. 11, and against Japan on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Ochoa, 19, will represent the Mexico U-20 National Team against Greece on Saturday, Oct. 12, and against Croatia on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Tsakiris, 19, will represent the United States Under-20 Youth National Team against Chile on Saturday, Oct. 12, and again on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Verhoeven, 18, will represent the United States U-19 Youth National Team against Sweden on Friday, Oct. 11, and against Japan on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
That was my thinking too when I saw players like Berchimas on the U19 roster. Kochen is out but hopefully we see a lot of the guys who missed qualifying like Cremaschi, Beavers, Banks, Campbell, etc.
I will have an article with thoughts on this roster tomorrow. The most exciting thing about this drop is that we now have each group from the U20s down to the U15s active for what I believe is the first time ever. That's an exciting development for U.S. Soccer. https://t.co/UTw8xFMSZg— Marcus Chairez | US/SC (@USSoccerColl) October 4, 2024
