Well now that the dust has settled for the U23s the main impact is Cremaschi won’t be with this team. And I assume Esmir will not as well.

I wonder if some of the players who are assuming more prominent roles with their clubs might not get released.

Augsburg might want Banks for their full pre-season.

The Sounders might want Baker-Whiting available for all their matches.

Barcelona might want Kochen for pre-season.

These are not bad problems to have. And it happens every cycle.

I wonder if Cole Campbell is going to be available or if Dortmund is going to keep him for the preseason?

Sort of why I wonder CONCACAF doesn’t play this earlier in the summer.

Kochen isn't happening last I heard. I suspect Banks might be similar. Potentially Soma and Campbell too? Maybe even like a Kohler or Murray?

If they can get Beavers they can manage without Kochen for qualifying (though obviously it’d be nice to get him in).

I assume Wynder isn’t happening either (though good to see he’s back in training).

They should be fine in goal, regardless. Realistically, we should be able to put out a team of all backups and qualify. The CONCACAF competition is very weak and we've been improving.

Even without Kochen and Beavers, we still have Beaudry and Eyestone likely to do an acceptable job, and then you have a player like Andrew Rick (three MLS appearances and none were really that bad) who probably doesn't even make the team.

I doubt Wynder will be involved. Maybe the U-20 WC.

You are correct on Wynder. He's out for qualifying.

Am not familiar with the U20 pool what is a realistic group to get called in? Knowing some may not be released and others who are on the fence.

I’m guessing will be pretty similar to who was called in the last two camps, depending on availability.

I have been watching Chicago players for 30 years and #12 Borso is the real deal. Opponents can never tell if he is left or right footed which is obviously a big advantage in dribbling and shooting ... but he surprises attackers with his pressing and ambidextrous defending - routinely picks pockets with both feet. True modern two way player. At 6 feet and fast, his combination of physical and technical ability are rare. Hope he stays in Chicago, but the Fire are a tough club to believe in.

This (German) tweet suggests that Kohler has been picked and has left to join the team.

This (Dutch) one says Rudisill was not released.

I was thinking about this last night. The ones I think are definitely not happening are Wynder, Cremaschi, Bajraktarevic, Buck, Kochen, Banks, and Campbell. Seems like Rudisill is out too.

    Optimistic About Releases:

    GK: Beavers, Beaudry
DF: Kohler, Baker-Whiting, Norris, Bombino, Akinmboni, Cobb, Murray
MF: Soma, Raines, Tsakiris, Habroune, Medina, Olney, Vazquez, Fletcher, Berchimas
    FW: Figueroa, Zambrano

    Pessimistic:

    GK: Beaudry, Eyestone
DF: Kohler, Harangi, Bombino, Murray, Hawkins, Pierre
MF: Raines, Oregel, Habroune, Perez, Medina, Olney, Vazquez, Berchimas, Gozo
    FW: Figueroa, Zambrano, Neri

Can't speak for certain but I think there's a pretty high chance San Jose would release Tsakiris. CM pairing would be Yueill/Gruezo.

I would hope SJ would release him at this point in the season

A name out of left field that might be worth considering is Ransford Gyan, who just won his second Gatorade National Player of the Year award. He's the first player to do it twice in the history of the award. He's playing for Clemson in the fall.

Obviously hasn't been playing at the same level as the other candidates but he's more than capable.

Neri's move to Atlanta United 2 makes a callup much more likely, I think.

Very confusing to say "age groups" when he means years.

Right, it's really one age group. I know they have a U-16, U-17 and U-18 team so that's what they are doing ... but really, it's U-17 and U-20 in terms of real competitions.

I would have to imagine that he’s been here long enough to get it, if he were interested

Also Cremaschi and Esmir (though unclear how much longer he will be with the program).
