I keep checking WST because if there is any way to spin the ratings into a negative they will be the first to do it. And I just want to know the number lol
I mean, his initial MLS contract just ended, and an extension was recently announced. I'd imagine part of the hold up in that extension getting done was how to make up for the move away from Season Pass.
Did we ever get confirmation of Messi getting part of Season Pass subscriptions? Everyone takes it as a fact but I can't remember if it was ever reported by a somebody with legitimate sources.
We still don’t have any ratings on the MLS Cup final 🤔— MLS Moves (@MLSMoves) December 10, 2025 Uh oh - we're at "MLS Moves is concerned" level now!
No, but we do have that the playoffs were averaging 711K views per match and that the regular season averaged 3.7M per week (roughly 246,666 per match) - per MLS itself btw I'd say that not having the MLS Cup Final number yet really isn't a big deal (nor will the number itself be, outside of being astronomically high).
The only "source" I've found other than things being "reported" or "said" is 'Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas said the following about the agreement with Apple being part of Messi’s contract: “The Apple contract was very important to close the deal.”' https://www.nbcsports.com/soccer/ne...act-compare-to-other-top-players-in-the-world The link to Front Office Sports says: "the effort to lure Messi was so great that the league’s sole media partner agreed to share revenue from MLS Season Pass with the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner."
It was so widely reported that if Messi was NOT getting part of it, there are about a hundred journos who failed at their jobs! Which is just me dressing up an appeal to authority bit of logic in fancy clothes.
Five days last year to get the ratings. Three days in 2022 when the number was strong. No idea what this means for this year but I’m sticking to my bold prediction of somewhere between the two years cited above.
I'm surprised MLS hasn't released a tweet yet with generally positive stats like "xxx% increase internationally" or anything vague but positive.
Primetime ratings for 12/6 have been out for quite a while... http://www.thetvratingsguide.com/2025/12/saturday-tv-ratings-12525-saturday.html
Expectations were high because of Müller vs. Messi. Instead maybe they should have been low because Vancouver isn’t in America.

Personally I don't care about the number, but Paul Tenorio's repeated "we can't verify Apple's numbers" in the linked article reads like somebody trying to throw doubt at MLS. Combined with his recent book promotion I'm getting a little tired of his slant.
So, when the ratings for the linear English language US channel comes out as below a million, I can only assume we can expect a flood of "USL is more popular that MLS!!!" because they will ignore that Apple TV exists.
Speaking of USL Championship's final's ratings.. Has anyone seen it? Last year they put out the press release about the ratings on December 7, two weeks after the final.
