looks like Tek , roony and Martin haven't been registered yet , would've loved to see roony at least since we lack forwards , hope we register him soon ( surprised we even managed to register Rashford )

Bizarre goal given to Ferran after a Mallorca defender is hit in the head with the ball, the ref lets play go on, and Ferran shoots the ball into the net with no work from the opposing keeper. 0-2. 23’

A bit weird because it wasn’t a clash of heads that caused the player to go down .

That second yellow looked very harsh unless it was for dissent or I missed something

Weird match . Underwhelming after a great start … specially considering the 2 man advantage

If I were a Mallorca fan, I'd be pretty incensed about the officiating. But every call was justified, except maybe the foul from behind Raphinha committed near the end of the first half. That could've easily been red.

The second yellow to Morlanes was also pretty harsh, but I'm of the opinion that when a player is on a yellow they shouldn't commit any foul or risk ejection. Morlanes apparently believed he had made a "common foul" on Lamine. Sorry, dude.

    Agreed.

I thought the 2nd yellow was harsh, and were the situations reversed, Culers would have felt ill-treated.

I also thought that Araujo got away with persistent infringement in the 1st half, as I'd always thought that >3 fouls by the same player = a yellow. LPB fans are crying like b!tches about this, but then Rudiger gets away with it too.

Happy with Yamal-to-Raphinha, and Ferran playing to the whistle. Happy with the 3 points. Happy with no evident injures, and no red cards.

Araujo has to find more discipline, or he could find himself in trouble with a more stricter ref in the future.

Joan looked steady enough in the few chances he faced.

Apart from that, it was hard to get a good feel for this match, given the 2 man advantage.

I heard that Roony needs to play at least one game with Barca B before he can play with the first team ..

    why ?

    Meh.

There's an adage that explains pretty much everything that happens in the game:

"If something happens with your team that you don't like or don't understand, its almost always about money."

IOW, Roony is likely going to have to be registered as a youth player, to help circumvent La Liga registration rules. And again, this is because Barça have been financially incompetent, and have bought players they don't need, or have stupidly overpaid for other players.

For my part, because Roony is a player that Deco really wanted, I fully expect him to not have sufficient quality, based on Deco's poor record as sporting director.

Taken together, Culers shouldn't squander a billisecond thinking about a teenager who backs up Yamal, and who probably isn't good enough, and probably never will be.

I'd be a bit annoyed if I was Mallorca but none of it really changed the outcome as 1 red card was certainly justified and enough to seal their fate given the scoreline at the time. And yeah, "common foul" in terms of the amount of contact, sure, but I think the yellow was more for denying what inevitably was going to be a scoring chance. So, not DOGSO but DAGSO. :p

Must say, Raphinha's challenge was quite far from a red IMO. I'm biased, but I'm also a pessimist, yet I wasn't worried for a second that might go to VAR.

would have preferred Fermin in the midfield with Rashford as CF ( Ferran to sub him in the second half ) but let's see how this works out.

pitch is horrible and soaked with water , Levante playing 5-4-1 and dangerous on the counters.

While I dont prefer it for Barça, I understand that measure of "gamesmanship," to waterlog the pitch, and make it more difficult for Barça.

However, AFAIK, Levante are within the bounds of The Laws.

    50/50, could go either way.

We'd want that call if it was against the other side.

    Just gotta dig deep.

Hansi, none of your "wait til the 70th minute to make a move" bullshyte. Make a move NOW.

    I agree.

Raphinha lining up inside doesn't seem to be as effective as him coming from outside to inside on a run.

And Ferran doing his stupid "look back and gesture at the passer who didn't give him the EXACT ball he wanted" bullshyte is getting old.

    Ferran:

Shut your hole, work harder, no one gives a fvkc. Finish your chances, then shut your hole more.

Flick, go to the bench again.

Its a hot night in Valencia, and Barca need another goal.

I mean, unless he's completely injured, Lewandowski right now has to be better than Torres right now.

That is, after 73 minutes of running in the heat for Torres, with 0 minutes played by Lewandowski.
