For me works on every device I've tried, PS5, Firestick, LG Smart TV, Fire tablet HD10 (use browser) and finally iPhone 13. Never experienced any problems, I will sign up again.
I've had problems with non-Apple browsers. I'm now using Samsung's browser on my phone. It works fine on Apple apps on Firestick and other devices. The biggest problem I have on non-Apple browsers is that when I'm watching a match and use the BACK button it takes me out of Apple TV and I have to click back in to get to the top menu.
I have issues using Apple TV's Windows app. It freezes every 15 minutes for like 3-4 minutes and then catches up in fast forward. No such issue on browser, and what dorks (me) use apps on Windows anyway?
What device? Also - AppleTV is a device - the streaming service is AppleTV+ and the MLS specific offering is MLS Season Pass - Both MLS season pass and AppleTV+ are available on almost all device except Android Mobile.
I have the very same problem and TBH it's something I can live with considering I haven't had any problems with the freezing picture I experiened the 1st two years. The $79 I pay is a bargain.
I'm not complaining about the cost. I can deal with the extra couple of clicks it's just a shame I can't easily flick between games.
Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass are separate streaming services available on the Apple TV platform. Apple TV is simultaneously the name of a hardware device, an app that is deployed on many other devices and operating systems, and the platform that is accessible by the device, the app, and a browser interface. Thank you Apple for making your branding clear and easy to understand.
The only technical issue I've had with Apple and MLS was last season when they had that glitch with all the passwords, and people couldn't sign in to watch the games. And that got resolved the next morning. If I've had problems while watching the games, it's because my internet connection was gumming up the works. Not because of Apple. I'm not surprised that now we're on a streaming service that individuals are having issues that other individuals aren't.
I had some major issues for a few weeks last year that only a few people I could find via Google had. Other than that, it's been the occasional glitch and minor issues that only appear on certain devices. A native Android app would be great. Other than that, the announcers are horrible and they seem totally incapable of showing replays in game, but that's not on Apple per se.
The first MLS game of the matchday shouldn't start at 7:30 p.m. ET today.MLS should have prime-time matches on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons every week. Big games should be flexed into those timeslots.Apple TV is missing a significant opportunity for fans across the… pic.twitter.com/r2nPjrjmYa— Favian Renkel (@FavianRenkel) August 31, 2024 Selfishly this sounds like a good idea, however, it's been tried before with at best mixed results. Also, finding a national broadcast partner who will show these hypothetical games in a consistent time slot all season long will not happen.
Just have them on Apple if no other network can broadcast games. But yes, they need to spread them out. Next year we will have a total of 15 games per week. One game every Friday, 12 games on Saturdays on 2 times slots; 6 at 6:30 and 6 at 8:30 so that 360 show can work and then 2 games on Sunday. I know most fans watch their teams and that's it. They are done with MLS for that day. But others like us want to watch other games too. It's how you eventually grow interest in MLS, IMO.
You can watch other games....... they are all available on demand. Also.... having a Friday Night Game will be difficult to keep consistent because of midweek games, CCC, Open Cup, etc. The main issue MLS had with its' previous broadcast deals was the lack of a consistent TV window from week to week. Case in point THIS weekend. That dingbat who tweeted their idea failed to mention that this is the first weekend of College Football. The US Open (Tennis) is relegated to ESPN+ today because of College Football. IMO, MLS needs to stay the course they have started to establish with Season Pass. They need to keep their TV and game schedule consistent for multiple years in a row. By changing it up again next season....it just defeats the purpose of having your own network. Also, who wants to sit in a stadium in the middle of the afternoon in June, July, August, and early September and roast? The afternoon summer games are almost always poor quality, and slow paced. The players don't like playing in the summer heat and sun either.
Normal people don't do that. People don't watch 90 minute games "as live". That's something that's reserved for your own team or complete obsessives. I think asking for more varied kick off times is reasonable. The first kick off tonight is at 12:30 a.m. As long as the local teams are OK with it let them decide what the best kickoff time is for their fans. Btw, please don't give me the result of the 2000 Presidential election. I want to watch it "as live".
Fans want to watch live games not replays. By the time you watch a replay you already know the result. MLS shouldn't be concerned about college football, NFL or anyone else. If you prefer other sports over MLS than MLS isn't your priority. It's just a placeholder until your real priority starts, be it college football or NFL or both. They just need to spread the games more on Saturday and play more games on Sunday and at least one on Friday. When there are midweek MLS games just skip the Friday game for that week.
So that consistent schedule thing......... the MAIN reason (aside from the cash) that MLS chose Apple TV should just be ignored then?
I managed to watch F1 Qualifying today without spoiling the result. I’ll watch INDYCAR tomorrow without spoiling the result. I watch every Newcastle game played while im at work without spoiling the result, I watched 80/82 Flyers games last year without knowing the result. Not all live as I work nights half the time. One I never watched and one I watched after knowing the result. Thx, Jay!
Also the idea of flexing games between dates is a non-starter. The NFL, who is a juggernaut in American sports, just got to the point where they felt comfortable doing that less than a year ago. The idea that MLS (or any other league that isn't the NFL) can flex a date on short notice without significant impact is fantasy.
The NFL's flex schedule isn't done on short notice either. It's done a few weeks in advance. Also.... the US Open Cup is essentially a flex schedule and we all see how well attended those games are........ not to mention the glorious viewership numbers that those games get....
Whoever said anything about short notice? The schedule is made before the season starts not on a week per week basis. You do. That doesn't mean everyone will. I do things other don't do too but that doesn't mean just cause I do something everyone else should too. Setting up games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday won't be consistent? Maybe you guys are misunderstanding. No one said MLS should do that for the rest of the season but do it for next season and onward. Schedules are made before start of season. Having games on the weekend is very doable. Don't see why for you guys it seems like it's something MLS has never done before.
