Hmm, 5 Sold and 3 Released, Mathieu retired (other than injuries we'd have happily kept him) The rest of the loans were just typical Sporting, happens every year. If you compare it to the summer prior Amorim, and the one before that 7 Sold, 3 released......and a bunch of loans. Summer before that = 7 sales After Amorim's first full season there was a drop in sales the next season with only 3 (but at that stage we'd sold all our main assets really), and then were back at it the next season with 8 sales. It's just Sporting things, lots of turnover always. What he did well was integrate players from the youth team
Thanks for the insight there, appreciated. I may be in the minority, but I wouldn’t mind having 5/7 go, a couple decent purchases and more youth integration with a slow climb up the table. I’m done with these 2 year quick resets where we over pay and in 2/3 seasons fire the manager and reset again. It’s been 10+ years now. I can wait a few more to build properly and I do feel Amorim, if backed, is the right person for the job. By backed, I don’t mean specially financially, hut backed in the actual strategic plan being implemented
Yeah I think the youth integration is key, in this day an age a squad overhaul is hard, need as many Heaven's Amass' and co being trusted to fill in gaps and be used in rotation. Whilst cutting adrift the players who don't work and never will, the club needs to stop 'protecting players value' we never even sell them anyway. Look at players like lindelof, and Jesse and the likes in the past, we just get milked for wages with pointless players
With cheating Chelsea & Saudi Newcastle would usually have supported Nottingham Forrest getting into the CL. However their owner being a dick by employing Clattenburg to put pressure on PGMOL, confronting refs in their room at his ground, confronting his manager on the pitch and banning Gary Neville from commentating on todays game because he dared criticise, then am OK with them missing out on CL. Hopefully City get a deduction and Villa move up but not hopeful of any justice there. Is what it is and teams pretty much end up where they deserve to be including us. Just glad the season is over tbh.
Marinakis is actually pretty decent guy when he's not shipping metric tons of heroin and bombing a referee's family bakery in Greece. Fun fact, he wrote lyrics to a hit song.
My brother sent me this saying, "Amorim when he says his goodbyes at Man United" https://packaged-media.redd.it/qsx2...00&s=555c1418188644ea467781629b4749ee3a2bdc55
No milage in dwelling on the negatives as we all know what they are. Obvs positives don't make up for this sh1t show of a season but there have been a few for me. - Amad, has just been a great season for him, gives us someone to watch and has good decision making and end-product - Mazzraoui, thought he was best signing this season given the workload put on the guy, ideally he won't be a starter, but that he can play so many defensive positions to a consistent level has been impressive - Ayden Heaven looks like a steal from Arsenal, only a few games but to look so comfortable at this level is hopeful - Yoro & De Ligt, rate them both, though both have given concerns over injuries but when available both are quality - midfield control of games has improved, not more than it should or to a high-level but at least we are not massively over-run in the middle every game like before - got to see some comebacks, there were a few highlights there and the win against City was fun - support has been great, away support especially
i don't know if anyone even bothered to watch this cash grab event but https://www.skysports.com/football/...de-suffer-friendly-defeat-on-post-season-tour
Got back from a run, so thought I would watch - we can't get any worse right? Wrong Obvs usual caveats about game not meaning anything and end of season, players don't care blah blah etc., but fact is was the same old "we could play another few hours and not look like scoring" stuff we have seen all season. Those in the half-empty stadium must be questioning why bother with this club like rest of the Man Utd fans around the world. Was also partly interested if Bruno, Garnacho, Mainoo were going to play (they did) as all must be thinking they have some decisions to make. For their own sakes, they should run far and run fast
if any of you are masochists and in the mood for more suffering, we play again tomorrow at 8pm EST iirc
well, the tour ended on a not low note. glad for Obi and Heaven https://www.skysports.com/football/...hido-obi-scores-twice-in-post-season-friendly
