I dont think we should want this, because that can give LPB momentum over the course of the season. Nor should we want LPB to be bounced early from the UCL, which would only alleviate any schedule congestion for them in the 2nd half of the season. (I dont believe that those clubs bounced from the UCL are "relegated" to the JV tournaments any more.) I think we want a hard-fought battle between POOl and LPB. One that forced a harsh burden on both sides, but that either ends inconclusively, or puts more pressure on LPB, through a last minute loss, and puts them at risk for not qualifying.
Definitely want Liverpool to win. That's a no brainer and it would ensure LPB play the extra 2 CL matches in February (projections suggest you need 16 points to finish top 8)
I'd prefer an injury time GWG by POOl that hurts LPB in the standings, and in LPB's dressing room as well. A real heart-breaker.
Happy with the win. No injuries, and no cards, which is important. Wished the goals came earlier, so that the team was rotated earlier. Hopefully, the dumbasses in the media will shut their pieholes about missing Yamal.
UEFA Champions League | MD 6 Date: Dec 11, 2024 Tough away match at Borussia today. A win or a draw would place us in 2nd at the table. Although a draw would makes us 2nd tied on points with a bunch of other teams. The table is pretty tight. A loss would have us standing only 3 points above 19th place ... possibly more with todays matches. So this is an important game to at least get a point.
Agreed this is a tough and an important match. Not only for staying in the top 8, but for re-establishing positive momentum overall in this season. Its important to win NOW, so that future fixtures are less stressful, and to limit fixture congestion, by avoiding the extra UCL matches.
yeah, tough fixture. This was the fixture I was hoping would fall on Matchday 2 when I was visiting Europe but unfortunately, I got Young Boys instead . But first-world problems aside, this match will have a brilliant atmosphere. And probably a few goals. I see that only 8 Bundesliga teams have conceded more goals than Dortmund this season, so their defense must not be great.
Good save by Pena. Was offside anyway. Thought we would see a more open game than this. Was pretty open in the first few minutes, and really Barca should have scored. Not a lot since.
Sabitzer could have picked up 2 yellows there. Kicked the ball away (like a mile away) and then gets in the ref's face for several seconds! Last I checked each of those on their own normally led to a yellow.
