Pretty fun to hear the Dortmund fans. They never stop chanting even after their team goes down again.
FT Dortmund 2-3 FCB 5 straight UCL victories, first time since 2015 edit: looks like 4 straight wins. Not sure why the commentator said that
Agreed. I dont think that the midfield and Frontline look tired, but the back 4 look like they could do with another man or two in the rotation.
Yeah, Iñigo, Cubarsí, and Koundé could all use a breather, especially the way we play with a high line and the way offside is now called at the end of the play
Here's hoping that Araujo can get into form quickly, and bring some freshness into the defense. I dunno why Flick doesn't like Fort, but he's pretty much the only spare FB this side has at the moment.
Yeah, still though... my view of Ferran didn't really improve tonight given the nature of the 2 goals (1-luck; 2-donkey touch making it look tougher than it was). The main hope is that this (falsely) enhances his confidence
Yeah, I had hoped that Fati could have taken on the spare/utility forward role a bit more, but alas, his injuries. With respect to Ferran, at least he's been productive of late, and here's hoping that continues. To his credit, he has put himself into positions to get lucky on the one goal, and to get in behind the defense for the other one. So, his runs and positional sense appear to be in place, if even his skills can disappoint at times.
UEFA Champions League | MD 7 Date: Jan 21, 2025 Opportunity to prove that while the team is struggling in La Liga, it is serious about the CL. This team has done well in high intensity games unlike ones in the past, and that's what the CL is about.
Please win today. Between the La Liga form, and the moronic "rumour" that those dumb @ssholes are trying to bring in Marcus Rashford on loan [and pay actual money for him], I'm so irritated and discouraged right now.
Could clinch a top 4 spot this week, which would mean home advantage (2nd leg+ET) through the quarterfinals at least.
Indeed, it is encouraging. I think it has to do with Flick's style being effective against teams that feel they can play their game against us. And then the high line throws them off their game and it turns into a 0-4, 4-1 or 2-5 mess. However, I think that Benfica will be more like a typical La Liga opponent. They surely know that they can't play against Barca the way they play against Famalicao and Farense. They'll be more patient and more cautious, and so far that's the type of team Flick's high line isn't as effective against.
