Sounds like there are two camps this month. Later in the month they will be in Brazil as well. Probably a great way to see more players, if they are available from their teams.
Draw officially announced for September 15th, two weeks from tomorrow. Did not realize we were completely hosed in the Pots. We would've been a Pot 2 side if we'd won that confederation championship against Mexico but we got dumped on our backside so we're pot 3. Yikes. I wasn't super impressed to begin with beyond a couple of players. Now we have a chance to be grouped with quite a few tough sides, could easily crash out group stage. Brazil, France, Spain, Mexico, Japan and host Indonesia are the Pot 1 sides. Pot 2's got Germany england, Argentina and Ecuador, and then Mali and South Korea. At least we get to avoid Senegal in Pot 3. You never know with 16 year olds, but I'm not feeling very confident going in. Looks pretty intimidating. Kinda shocked at how ---- some of the Indonesian stadiums look, definitely some disrepair, parking lots that look as much grass as concrete, pretty wild. Anyway, excited to see the draw, but definitely worried about performance. It seems failing to win our confederation last winter, and stinking out loud in '19, and '15 really hurt our ranking points coming into pot setting. Pot 1 was 53-21 points, Pot 2 was 19-12.6 points, we came in with 9.6, ranking us essentially 16th of the 24 invited teams (Mexico is actually ranked 2nd, technically we're 15th, since Indonesia, who are garbage historically, are unranked and atop the pyramid).
US youth int’l midfielder Adrian Gil is training with the Barcelona first team.Gil, 17, been in Barca academy since 2018. Regular with the US U-17s pic.twitter.com/QibO27BkTR— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) September 7, 2023
I don't think he underperformed so much, as he wasn't in sync with his teammates. I thought I saw him making-passes-to/running-to spaces that his Barcelona counterparts would have gone to, but his US teammates didn't. More familiarity with his teammates will help, IMHO.
So there is another u17 camp coming up in Brazil. Does anyone know if there is a tournament taking place like the previous camp or who they will be playing and if it will be streamed?
There's another one early October. Believe it's two games against the Brazilian U-17's, but I could be wrong about the opponents. No clue yet if it'll be streamed.

Prep window team. Matthew Corcoran is back in the pool. And a couple of names new to me, Garcia, Bombina I've never heard of. Lanza, Nixon and Reid-Brown sound vaguely familiar but I know nothing. U-17 MYNT ROSTER BY POSITION (CLUB; HOMETOWN) – BRAZIL TRAINING CAMP GOALKEEPERS (2): Adam Beaudry (Colorado Rapids; Castle Pines, Colo.), Duran Ferree (San Diego Loyal SC; San Diego, Calif.) DEFENDERS (7): Andrew Baiera (New York City FC; Darien, Conn.), Luca Bombino (LAFC; Saugus, Calif.), Christian Diaz (Los Angeles FC; San Bernardino, Calif.), Tyler Hall (Inter Miami CF; Miramar, Fla.), Shawn Lanza (Atlanta United FC; Atlanta, Ga.) Shakir Nixon (LAFC; Cerritos, Calif.), Tahir Reid-Brown (Orlando City SC; Orlando, Fla.) MIDFIELDERS (6): Matthew Corcoran (Birmingham Legion FC; Dallas, Texas), Diego Garcia (North FC Dallas; Denver, Colo.), Cruz Medina (San Jose Earthquakes; San Francisco, Calif.), Santiago Morales (Inter Miami CF; Weston, Fla.), Paulo Rudisill (Los Angeles Galaxy; Irvine, Calif.), Adyn Torres (Atlanta United FC; Stone Mountain, Ga.) FORWARDS (5): Nimfasha Berchimas (Charlotte FC; High Point, N.C.), Micah Burton (Austin FC; Mounds View, Minn.), Brian Romero (Charlotte FC; Concord, N.C.), Bryce Jamison (Orange County SC; Lake Forest, Calif.), Ezekiel Soto (Houston Dynamo FC; Menifee, Calif.)
Baiera, Nixon, Reid-Brown, and Corcoran are probably the newer names that could really help this team. We'll have to see if they have real chances to make the U-17 WC team. Looks settled with Kochen out that Ferree, Beaudry, and Campagnolo will probably be the three GK's. Glad the two wingers got called in again. We really need some speed. That's one of the few positive reforms Segares has made of late. Bringing in natural LB's the other. Swapping Ramos out for Soto just seems to be the same aimless approach at CF. Seems like hope and pray Figueroa is fit, otherwise we're going with a false 9 approach.
The interesting name on this roster is Santi Morales. From what I saw in the tournament in Japan he has picked up something physically. Still on the slight side but seems stronger and more explosive. The skills and vision of course have always been there.
I would have liked to see McFarlane and Yagudayev get a look. Yagudayev was one of the best performing GKs in MLS Next Pro on a pretty good sample of shots. I like Baiera; he’s got a good attacking verve but still is a strong 1v1 defender. He doesn’t have the best read of the game yet, but can make up for mistakes. He’s also grown significantly this season.
I think it’s unclear if McFarlane wants to be with the team or not considering he was with the England U17s recently.
I know that he was going to be on the qualifying roster but was barely fit. The England U17 squad was all 07s so it’s not clear if they’d consider him for their World Cup squad
Game called at half time due to storm. 0-0 and team was playing well. A penalty was disallowed so should have been 1-0. Ferree made a good save from a side volley as well.
OFFICIAL: 15-year-old Nimfasha Berchimas has been called into the US for the U-17 World Cup 🇺🇸 He will be the youngest player to play at the U-17 World Cup for USA since 2003 🤯 pic.twitter.com/tgV8wt0ebI— Footy Access (@footy_access) October 16, 2023
Hopefully he is younger than Freddy was in 2003. Please don't tell me that Freddy was 11 or something.
