I say start Varane and have a midfield of Martinez and Donny.

^ I think Martinez would work as a CH, between the defense and midfield, to mop things up. Bayer Leverkusen played Ramelow this way on their run to the UCL final in 2002. Given our issues, I think we need to do something along these lines.

ESPN reports the club told ten Hag to be more realistic about our aspirations this season
    https://www.espn.com/soccer/manches...-the-season-chelsea-hunt-three-major-signings

I was a bit surprised by ten Hag's conviction that he would get up and running right away when he took over. It's going to take a few years before we see the consistent progress we want, especially given the players we have. TBH I think a lot of Erik's vision comes to down the signing of de Jong. He is a key piece to implementing his ideas and missing out on him is a huge blow.

Until we sign somebody, then tend to agree (though would probably go Eriksen over Donny). We need Martinez at CB for sure, but we probably need him even more in CM at the moment as that is more broken.

Fred would be an option to partner him too. We know he is better and more effective for Brazil when he has Casemiro behind him and plays higher up.

A number of different ways to do this, but we need to ditch McT and stop thinking Fred can play deep. Every analysis video of the Brighton game starts with "Fred was the pressing trigger".

This is why I always thought for going to raid Ajax to build the foundation for ourselves should have gotten the defensive midfielder Alvarez and the box the box guy Gravelbach(sp?)

EtH coached Alvarez. We need a CDM. There seems to be a reason why he didnt try and sign him for us.

If we don't sign anyone and don't use Martinez there, then the only other option with what we have could be for EtH to coach Garner for the more #6 role (meaning deepest of the double-pivots).

Garner (like so many of our youngsters) is also really an #8, but is probably the one with the most #6 ish defensive attributes relative to the others and has at least had a season of mens football.

Was a real shame that he was injured at the start of pre-season and only available at the end - as would be a risk throwing him in now. Probably still no bigger risk than putting McT in the starting eleven or playing Fred deep though.

Whatever we do different will probably suck early in regardless, but at least building to something that might work will be preferable than sticking with what we know over 2 seasons doesn't work.

I blame that on management. Only plausible explanation.

I read an interview where Garner said he's a 6.

I was surprised by that too. He just took on the challenge of proving to coaching staff he could do it all.

I completely forgot we qualified for the Europa League. I thought we were in the Conference League.

It took 2 months for Lindelof to be the fourth choice and Maguire third. It took two months for Shaw to become second fiddle. And Dalot cementing his place.

Now another two months for our midfield to be figured out.

Now that I've had to switch legal streams in Canada from DAZN to FUBO, I need to figure out where to get streams of the europa league - any suggestions of where to begin?

DAZN has the legal rights in Can while FUBO has the EPL rights

I agree that neither alone is really worth it - dropped DAZN and picked up FUBO as I wanted to see the epl games, but was a better deal previously

fubo is DAZN minus the CL for 50 more and DAZN is now just continental games for the same price when it used to have Serie A and EPL and championship + continental games.

DAZN essentially split into two from this season on.

and then they wonder why people use "illegal" streams and "pirate"

    Fubo is.

    My honest opinion.

Not one platform has all the leaves. Fubo and espn+ have the most leagues.

My friends gave me their paramount, peacock. I pay for espn (with hulu and disney) and fubo.

Dont miss any games with that.

Why did you have to switch to legal streams?
