Might want to close this one down since the 2020 thread is still going strong. Now that the 2021 season has a confirmed Apr 17 date we can close the 2020 once the season kicks off. I'll return to track ratings with my usual chart. See ya then.
I figured the mods would want to start moving stuff to the 2021 thread. Or maybe they'll just rename the 2020 thread.
Renaming the 2020 thread might be best, but I think for historical record keeping purposes they'll probably keep them separated. The yearly threads are actually used by some sources for MLS viewership trends due to the detail links and sources provided in them.
I'm back! Lets track these ratings! MLS 2021 TV Ratings ESPN Networks FOX Networks Univision Networks Week 1 SEA v MIN FS1 Apr 15 Fri 10pm ORL v ATL UniMas/TUDN Apr 16 Sat 230pm LAFC v Austin FOX Apr 16 1 Sat 6pm Inter Miami v LA Galaxy ABC Apr 17 Sun 300pm CLB v PHI FS1 Apr 17 Sun 530pm Total Network Average Average ESPN Networks Average Fox Networks Average Univision Networks All ratings are sourced from the below sites http://www.showbuzzdaily.com (Search MLS or Major League Soccer) http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/?s=MLS http://worldsoccertalk.com/category/tv-ratings/ https://programminginsider.com/category/ratings/
The Miami-LAG game was just outside the top ten Trending Topics on Twitter. Then Chicharito Scored and it went up to #2 only behind the Knicks-Pelicans game and is still in third place as I type.
About an hour and a half after the game ended, Miami-LAG has slipped to 13th place on trending topics on Twitter. Not bad for a regular season MLS contest,

Good/bad for opening day on FS1? It's been so long I honestly don't remember what a decent number is anymore.
Fridays Televised soccer Mazatlan vs Atlas 292k 1030pm TUDN Tottenham vs Everton 195k 3pm NBCSN Seattle vs Minnesota 163k 3pm FS1 Well it was the highest rated thing on FS1 that day if that tells you something. Not great but not terrible in line with FS1. A Friday 10pm game, it's ok for FS1. Also hard to dig in more without knowing the Fox Deportes simulcast audience. With that it's probably a 200k game going off the avg 35-40k Deportes avg from previous years. Same game pulls 325k on ESPN will be something for you guys to follow ESPN vs FS1 viewership dynamic. If this was ESPN at 163k I'd be disappointed, this is in line with FS1. More interested in the Sat/Sun 3 games on UniMas/TUDN, FOX, and ABC will get those tomm.

So mls on abc drew 200k more than serie a and similar to the biggest bundesliga match. For more context, ufc on abc got 850k for their most recent abc card and one championship on tnt got 196k, which is considered a disaster.
This is going to be a really dumb question, but when I'm watching these stations on my Fubo subscription, am I "counted" in the overall numbers? I ask because I watched LAFC-Austin on Fubo because I was watching via DVR (about 20 minutes behind) while watching the Miami-Galaxy game on my HD Antenna for over the air ABC.
I also noticed that lafc vs Austin also outdrew both serie a and bundesliga on abc. I think mls is the third most popular league in the united States, behind epl and liga mx.

Heh, technically the biggest game got by FAR the lowest rating Supercopa MLS not off to the best start.
You are counted when watching on Smart TV OTT app. You aren't covered if you stream laptop or watch on mobile device. Also aren't covered if you watch on regular TV and you aren't a Nielsen Household.
https://www.adweek.com/convergent-tv/networks-mull-next-steps-after-nielsen-declines-demands-for-a-third-party-audit/ Guys FYI on numbers this year. For the time being there's a big dispute with Networks and Nielsen. It's gone under reported but the networks are going to war with Nielsen due to under counting viewership on average of 20% the past year, which Nielsen has partly acknowledged due to COVID, but Nielsen says they've weighted in the difference whatever that means. Networks don't buy it and they see it in the data. Good read.
Sorry, but I've been out of the loop for a couple of years. I have ESPN+ because I thought that I could watch MLS Live through their service. Now that doesn't seem to be the case. I couldn't find anything about streaming from the last few years on mlssoccer.com, just old streams. Does MLS have a streaming service?
The match on right now is on FS1. Non-Univision or FOX matches are on espn+. Classic matches... that's another thing.
MLS opening weekend averaged around 500,000 viewers- up between 50 to 55% respectively from last year’s weekend window. This is a huge sign of progress for the League as numbers support a path to further expansions in supporters & quality.— Lizzy Becherano (@lizzy_becherano) April 25, 2021
