For the record, my father's family is from Ironton, MN, near Brainerd. His cousins had a grocery store in Hibbing where the mother of one Robert Zimmerman shopped.
Two years ago a friend and I took one to Wyoming to climb. On the way we stopped at the Badlands and stopped at Rushmore heading home (Underwhelming). Then last year some adult stuff happened and I only got one trip in, this year. a goddamn pandemic that is being badly handled by a moron.

I dragged my son on a detour to go through Hibbing and past the house where Bob grew up. Also saw the giant open pit mine.
If like me, you are still continuing the habit of 10-15k steps per day, then Plouffe has you covered with a great discussion with Jon Favreau about speech writing for conventions and the debates Especially interesting was Obama fell apart after debate 1 with Romney and felt he just psychologically couldn't do it. But he turned it around Also a good reminder that Biden has debated both Palin and Ryan and handled the job easy
Check out the Lincoln project zoom call yesterday. It was pretty revealing. The kind of explained their strategy and road map.It should be on their site.
It's really fascinating how these "owned media" ops are getting so powerful in terms of narrative setting.
My next motorcycle for commuting is going to be an electric. Not so much for lowering my carbon footprint which is already low but for the almost total lack of maintenance an electric motorcycle requires. Not having to change oil, check chain or valve clearance alone makes it worthwhile.
Good article.... My latest———->“The reality is that no modern president has done more to alienate female voters. His whole life Trump has treated women with disdain. And they are now poised to return the favor.” https://t.co/7ajoS5d1Tb— Sarah Longwell (@SarahLongwell25) July 10, 2020 Donald Trump and his campaign think they can stop the bleeding with women by leaning into the culture wars and highlighting looters, rioters, and vandals pulling down statues. But this is a fundamental misunderstanding of these voters. They don’t see Trump as someone who can protect them from the chaos—they think he’s the source of it.
I thought as an event it was a bit messed up - first time and they are learning with huge volume. I liked the close the most where Steve Schmidt endorsed Joe in the most concrete terms Wilson is much better in an audience situation than the others who talk like they are at a corporate meeting
Oh it absolutely IS but how does it help that if they lose all branches of government because they're tainted with association to donny tiny hands for years to come.
Yes - this is something that keeps coming up on Pod Save America Trump keeps emphasising chaos - but he is President in charge of it - that seems like a dumb strategy
I really wish the Democrats were as good as the Republicans are at this shit New ad airing before Trump's Saturday CoronaRally and on Fox News Sunday in NC and AZ: "It's OK To Change Your Mind. We Did." pic.twitter.com/V90phUsOTr— Republican Voters Against Trump (@AccountableGOP) July 10, 2020
Enten keeping it real. Of course there is a lot of effort to keep the horse race narrative going, but at the moment, these are disastrous numbers I think Pfeiffer/Plouffe are correct that this is going to be the Corona election in terms of what voters care about. That translates into many sub issues like healthcare, economy, jobs, equality etc Unless Trump actually pivots to talking to voters about the main issues he will get smashed. OR he needs to cheat and hope voters don't turn out because of the virus. Biden will come with a plan for turning this around. And in the debates he will demand Trump's plan. But Trump has no plan. I wrote this piece on the eve of the 2016 election. Trump had a real chance of winning based on the polls. https://t.co/DLDOW6pBmj Where we are right now is just not even anywhere in the same ballpark. Record unemployment. 130K dead. Record Recession. Out of control pandemic. No plan to get kids back to school.... I mean you can go on and on but the reality is pretty clear Since data folks are accused of failing to account for real-world context: reporters should look at the real world when writing poll stories like this! More than 130K Americans are dead of a pandemic the president said would go away. Not hard to explain why he's down by 9 points. https://t.co/CzdCX232rk— Nate Silver (@NateSilver538) July 10, 2020
Other Nate with the same read Trump will need to actually have a plan for the Virus to turn these numbers around. No one cares about Antifa etc right now Sometimes, American politics is complicated. Right now, it's extremely simple: the public has reached a harshly negative judgment of the president's handling of the most important issue facing the country, and the issue is so paramount that there's little room to wiggle out of it— Nate Cohn (@Nate_Cohn) July 10, 2020 And this is correct IMO If trump was losing an actual war this badly, you'd see the same numbers
Trump was lapping the competition for worst US President ever in January 2020. That was before the wheels fell off the country. I honestly don't understand how this guy can be polling above 5%.
