All those people crying about our Pks, it's beautiful scenes... We are back now officially baby! Loving it and long may it continue. Tie to take place the weekend of the 23-24th Jan, sandwiched between our league ties vs Fulham and Sheffield. Will be very interesting to see Ole manages that from a squad rotation standpoint (between the 20th vs Fulham and Arsenal on the 30th, that's 4 gms we're looking at here).
Liverpool twice in a week, away then home. Brilliant! Jan 12 vs Burnley (a) PL Jan 17 vs Pool (a) PL Jan 20 vs Fulham (a) PL Jan 23/4 vs Pool (h) FAC Jan 27 vs Sheffield (h) PL Jan 30 vs Arsenal (a) PL

alright then, half way through and sat on top. at this particular moment in the title race. i say moment because: it is only the halfway point. leading now is irrelevant. March/April is another story the pack has not thinned out quite as much as expected. Spurs despite their recent dip are still hanging around. Everton are 8 pts off but 2 in hand and even Aston Villa in 9th(?) with 3 in hand could be only a handful of points off the top if they win all 3. and probably most importantly - we are somehow in this position despite poor form or no form from attackers bar a goliath Fernandes effort and Cavani's efficiency in limited minutes right now we are on the borderline of success/failure. if we had to do Ppk the value would likely be less than 1. Probably not closer to zero than one but still. the Cpk value would probably be just above 1. possibly less. which basically means we're managing but only just. that said the flip side of that is if we can get Greenwood/Martial firing or get meaningful offensive contributions from vdB/Fred/Mata (when he plays)/the defenders we can keep this going a bit more. defensively we've been a bit better of late but hardly convincing. we're solid but not spectacular. which is perfectly fine and it is good to see Pogba taking some of the burden off of Bruno recently. we have a fair bit of room for improvement so let's see what happens
Our big February slate Feb 2 vs Soton (h) PL Feb 6 vs Everton (h) PL Feb 9 vs West Ham (h) FA Feb 13 vs WBA (a) PL Feb 18 vs Real Sociedad (a) EL Feb 21 vs Newcastle (h) PL Feb 25 vs Real Sociedad (h) EL Feb 28 vs Chelsea (a) PL An interesting month ahead and honestly not entirely sure how to call it right now, in terms of what to expect (our form looks to be middling at best right now). Our depth and obviously making actual use of it will be very important, especially with Thursday night EL games coming back. How Ole manages the squad will be important and someone like Donny could be crucial. It's important for Ole to start trusting him (and others) more: Tuanzebe is a player who falls in that category as well, just to name him. That was the very reason I was hoping we could have held onto Lingard a little while longer. I still believe that if he shows any hint of form (with his personal issues looking to be behind him), I still think he brings more to the table than the likes of Mata or DJ (the latter especially). As it's been mentioned in his thread, Diallo is going to be needed in the first team sooner rather than later. The point is: we've got think about being able to compete by season's end, by having our top players fresh. And that means being able to spell them at times. And the bottom line is, we don't have a squad to be competing on 3 fronts and we could find ourselves short of bodies. In order to have any real chance at securing a top 4 spot (which has to be the priority for now), Ole must go deeper into the squad and rotate our players more. Otherwise, we could see some important guys running out of gas by season's end and it could cost us dearly. Judging by our recent flat, low energy displays, it appears that some may be in the red already (or close to it).
I think Mata and James will be more useful in Europe where they are given more space and time. I think same goes for Donnie, Telles and hopefully we can give Axel and BW some playtime.
Still scratching my head over this. Imagine if our forwards can get consistently going the rest of the way. Across Europe’s top five leagues this season, only Inter [49], PSG [50] & Bayern Munich [57] have scored more goals than Manchester United [46].Absolutely relentless this evening. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/cwc0fiFG6f— Statman Dave (@StatmanDave) February 2, 2021
United's updated EL squad. #mufc's 24-man Europa League squad: De Gea, Henderson, Grant, Bishop, Bailly, Jones, Lindelöf, Maguire, Shaw, Telles, Tuanzebe, Wan-Bissaka, Diallo, Fernandes, Fred, James, Mata Matić, McTominay, Pogba, Van de Beek, Cavani, Martial, Rashford #mulive— utdreport (@utdreport) February 3, 2021
The likes of Mason and Williams as young through the academy players dont need to be registered in 24 man squad in case anyone wondering.
Some big (and crazy results) again in the past couple of days but who knows what's going to happen going forward. -City have a wild series of games in the league this month: Pool (a), Spurs (h), Arsenal (a), WH (h). Then they face us on March 6th. -Pool have: City (h), Leicester (a), Everton (h), Sheffield (a) February could get very interesting in regards to the scrum at the top of the table.
stat snapshot: as of now we are 1st for goals scored, 12th for goals conceded and in terms of last 6 form we are now 8th. make of that what you will
This explains our problem perfectly. I imagine most winning sides will see a spike for shots against at the death, but... man. As @utdarena mentioned, Manchester United have been conceding a high number of chances in the final minutes. The graphs show that Manchester United have generally been starting games slowly, and ending them chaotically. https://t.co/l2eJsJ7opr pic.twitter.com/44EKL1Gw1h— From The Stands (@FTStands_) February 8, 2021
