Heard from somebody that the season officially starts this weekend with the FA Community Shield (Whiners North-West vs London Bants) - hadn't realised it was that close. Think we have started the season in better shape My Captain is a criminal, the other CB is a hero, Pogba has COVID and AWB is going to miss the start of the season and we are making Zero signings....Bruno be like - going to hit the gym to strengthen my Shoulders, looks like im carrying this team next season 😱 pic.twitter.com/grOYHrXHHZ— MU-Dave (@Plasticshinpads) August 27, 2020
Yeah, it's because they have to make room for the international fixtures. So they are doing the Shield, and then everyone is leaving on international break. So dumb.
A couple of our games moved for tv; Saturday 19 September 17:30 Man Utd v Crystal Palace (Sky Sports) Saturday 26 September 12:30 Brighton v Man Utd (BT Sport)
Speaking of Donny, not sure if this can be verified but he apparently was the player who won the most Pks in the Eredivisie since 2018. Given his technical attributes, along with his movement and ability to find himself in dangerous positions in the box, wouldn't be a surprise if he was high up in that category at least...
Maguire involved in altercation with police and jailed, still ongoing. Now Mason sent home for both breaking agreed Icelandic / FA quarantine rules and also FA player behavior regulations. Also being investigated by police. Remember when the bad-boy player pre-season news a few years back was that Rom / Pogs had a bit of a noisy party?
#mufc will meet with authorities on Thursday to put forward plans to let fans back into Old Trafford for matches. The club will discuss allowing 12,000 fans to attend a trial against Crystal Palace on September 19 #mulive [@AndyMitten]— utdreport (@utdreport) September 9, 2020 If the 12,000 capacity trial against Crystal Palace goes ahead, the capacity could be increased for the game against Tottenham on October 3. If plans aren't given the go ahead then the club would have to find an alternative test event before crowds return #mulive [@AndyMitten]— utdreport (@utdreport) September 9, 2020
https://www.bbc.com/sport/54094363 So much for crowds coming back to stadiums soon. Was very optimistic tbh...
Looks like the clubs ambition is once again limited to just trying to be one of the best of the also-rans and squeak a CL spot in order to keep paying the dividends.
What we can expect from United this season. https://breakingthelines.com/data-analysis/season-preview-manchester-united/
Patrice Evra: "I’m burning inside. There’s so much negativity about the transfer window and the club have done nothing about it. For me, it’s deja vu, I’m exhausted and it’s only the first day of the season." #mulive [sky]— utdreport (@utdreport) September 19, 2020
What now for Manchester United? https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/54221832 This could get real ugly, real fast unless everyone from top to bottom reacts decisively. Simply can not afford to let things just spin out of control so early. Start with the people at the top obviously (by getting Ole the minimum reinforcements he needs). And it goes all the way to Ole himself and the players who need to do better also: looking back at yesterday's performance, it was just awful from pretty much everyone.
The teams above us are still out of reach with this level of investment, of more immediate concern however is that the London teams who finished below us in particular have invested. If Ed thinks we can effectively stand still (so the owners still get their fat dividends) and we will still get CL football he is wrong.
I fear United will never be the same glorious big club it was during Ferguson's tenure, maybe not in our lifetimes. The Glazers must sell, and the new owners must be determined to return Manchester United to its big club status. I think we were lucky to have experienced pre-Glazer United.
