Does anyone know if our players have been granted leave, or if they've been told to stay in Manchester?
2️⃣6️⃣ clean sheets 💪⛔️#MUFC pic.twitter.com/Qxcy8NPtlz— Manchester United (@ManUtd) July 28, 2020 Precisely why I feel ambivalent about our defense. The numbers suggest that our backline to be very solid, but the eye test (particularly since the restart) suggests otherwise. There is no denying that our defense has improved this season though (definitely not leaking as many goals as we used). Still room for improvement though and one small tweak at CB however (to optimize the partnership there), could make it even better.
The league starts September 12th. A month off? Is that not too much? If we play kids in the EL, they will be eliminated quite soon. Which means no extended break to start the EPL.
I'm surprised at that most-clean-sheets statistic. It seems like we were often allowing late goals in games.
Some legit beauties there. Will be very interesting to see which one comes out on top. 🚀 🤸♂️ 👟 Long range efforts, overhead kicks and volleys, but which is your @budfootball Goal of the Month?#PLAwardshttps://t.co/NK06ZDurJA— Premier League (@premierleague) July 29, 2020
We should try and win the Europa League. Its a 3 week tournament. With 3 weeks after the final to the start of epl season. The players will have had more than 2 weeks off if the kids play vs Lask. We can throw away the Carling Cup or FA cup next season if were worried about fatigue.
Do you think that Ole and our starting xi have shown that 2 weeks rest is enough for them? Haven't we fallen off a cliff everytime they play 10 weeks in a row?
some rags saying we've jeopardised our UEL campaign by allowing players to go on holiday. whether that is abroad or not or if even true i'm not sure
Not for nothing but I want the EL real bad now. Always wanted to win it to begin with but we just can't miss out on this opportunity, especially considering the field that is left. Perfectly fine with resting a lot of players for the next 2 games but come the semis, we need to get serious and give it a real go with our best players. We're talking just 2 more games from that point to win it. Will be the perfect way to cap what has been a satisfactory season, on top of providing a great boost ahead the rest of the transfer window and going into next season. Let's go for it and get it done.
The EL provides 3 things for us. A chance at a trophy. Shopwindow for kids who need/will get loans (Laird, Garner, Levitt) and preseason for seniors/fringe players who didn't get a lot of time in the run in (Jesse, Juan, Dan, Bailly et al).
#MUFC's EL squad: De Gea, Romero, Grant, Bishop, Bailly, Dalot, Fosu-Mensah, Jones, Laird, Lindelof, Maguire, Mengi, Wan-Bissaka, Williams, Fernandes, Fred, Galbraith, Garner, James, Lingard, Mata, Matic, McTominay, Pereira, Pogba, Chong, Greenwood, Ighalo, Martial, Rashford— Simon Peach (@SimonPeach) August 4, 2020 Tuanzebe and Shaw have been left out due to season ending injuries.

Any benefits of that break are now gone with the team playing basically a Christmas schedule for several weeks. I don't think the extended break is absolutely necessary, but given we are a pressing team, the time for recovery and the time to put in the fitness work will be helpful. Also, we need the time to integrate signings and work on some patterns/scripts for buildup play, set pieces and final third play.
Three semi-finals and third place this season. Not too bad. We must step up our performance for this one though. Haven't been up for it in the previous semi's. Nonetheless, this is progress.
disagree. we've been up for every single semi so far even if we didn't play particularly well. we missed out on one final by one goal(?) and the other due to match fixing
Crazy high number when you think about it. And one that is a credit to our forwards being a real problem for defenders. 21 - Manchester United have won their 21st penalty in all competitions this season, more than any other side within the top five European leagues. Formality. #UEL— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) August 10, 2020
My choice for United PotY. Lots of viable options this season between AWB, Fred and of course Bruno. But over the course of the entire season, Martial (except for that period early on when he was out injured) has done it consistently. He's taken his game up to a different level in the process. Looking for bigger things from him this coming term too, particularly if he can steer clear of injuries. He's our #9 now.
