The "Remaining Schedule" table in the first post has D.C. vs. Portland in next week for D.C. and this week for Portland.

I’m beginning to suspect knave is a closet Sounders fan, seeing how he waited for Seattle to go on a 5 game winning streak before posting this thread. Thanks buddy.

You do realize that my support is typically a soccer success kiss of death, don't you?

That's why you are a closet Sounders fan. Your fandom is so high that you don't want to harm the team by openly supporting it.

    You're a good man.. A good man.

    Not bad in the standings.

Just not making inroads toward MLS.

Are they expansion toast or have they moved into expansion burnt toast at this point?

That's alright. Sacramento is 2017 FC Dallas, whereas Raleigh-Durham has been 2017 Minnesota United.

Right now my best chance at MLS is that after thoroughly humiliating the rest of the NWSL for 2+ seasons the NC Courage are promoted to MLS.

I imagine there are a number of teams who would be able to fit that criteria...

@Knave will doubtless correct me, but that's just not what this thread is about. This thread is about the ephemeral nature of Toast (and the related levels of Glory that can be attained by teams) and how it can be Revealed by indirect methods akin to Faith. The Maths applied by His Golden Crusty Servant, Knave, are there to provide the imprimatur of science to that which we feel in our Hearts and know to be True.

Praise Toast Jesus and Pass the Butter.

As an RSL fan, this feels true. Watching Beckerman this season is sometimes kinda painful. Some games he's the Beckerman of old, but most games he's just old. Rimando is still quite good, but he's obviously not as good as he used to be and I expect is within a year of no longer being an above replacement value keeper.

Basically, my mission in life is to figure out mathematical eliminations/qualifications where the intuitive magic/tragic # can be misleading. That's basically my "thing" on this thread every year. It takes a village.

And a fine mission it is.

The 1996 Crew prove the ephemeral nature of toast.

I keep intending to write a program to do stuff like that, but then I think "that's really not worth the time and effort". Maybe this year. But probably not.
