ESPN is planning “significant” talent layoffs that would eliminate “tens of millions of staff salary from its payroll” by this summer, Sports Illustrated reported Sunday. According to the report, the round of cuts and buyouts would affect some well-known personalities, though there is “no set list of names yet.”
WELCOME TO FOX SOCCER SUNDAY. I am Taylor Twellmen and I am joined by Alexi Lalas to bring you tonights game.
The clip sounds like it is some of the long time, really high priced talent. I doubt Taylor falls into that category but I guess anything could happen if the cuts are deep enough.
Portland/Minnesota MLS on FS1 Friday: 213K. Another 22K on Fox Deportes.— Sports TV Ratings (@SportsTVRatings) March 6, 2017
Also, apologies for abandoning my post on the 2016 TV thread. I'll definitely post ratings to this thread when I see them, but the near-weekly aggregation of ratings data proved to be too time-consuming for me last season. If anyone is willing to take over the duties, just reach out to me and I'll happily explain - via private message - how I tried to handle the task last season. With that said, I'm sure there's a less "manual" way to archive and display all of the data we receive (i.e., my methods were garbage/flawed anyway).
Looking back at Friday night average games 224k (unimas) + 54k (udn) = 278k. Portland vs Minnesota was 213k + 22k = 235k. Im very disappointed in these numbers. I was hoping for better considering this was the start of the season at the Timbers and an expansion team. MLS needs to find a way to bring these numbers up.

In an effort to provide the most like-for-like comparison, here are last year's numbers from Week 1's Sunday night matches: ESPN, Game 1: 362k (POR vs COLU) Sunday 4:00pm 3/6/2016 FS1, Game 1: 267k (SEA vs KC) Sunday 7:00pm 3/6/2016 So a solid improvement across both channels in comparison to last season.

Those were pretty solid ratings for Sunday. Was there a Univision/unimas game this weekend or just FS and ESPN?
The LA v DAL game was on Univision (the big one) on Saturday afternoon. Not sure when we'll get those numbers since it's an OTA broadcast (as opposed to the cable numbers we get from the Sports TV Ratings guy).

I'm interested to see how this game did in the Minneapolis market. I know Twitter followers isn't the best indicator, but based on the follower count of the two expansion teams so far (ATL: 376k, MIN: 50.5k), I wonder how many potential fans Minnesota has to draw from in terms of TV viewers.

This is nice to see compiled like this. Where did you see the ESPND number? I missed that being posted. Note: you should add the teams in the 235k game in case you are looking to keep this going for the year.
