Speaking of Arena ... "Bruce Arena’s new book reveals Jurgen Klinsmann’s firing nearly happened six months earlier" ... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...ed-six-months-earlier/?utm_term=.768fd24142e5
Heard it from someone close to the team, apparently wont be announced until Friday. They're still working out contract negotiations and what not
Applebees waitresses don't constitute someone close to the team. I'll believe it when I see OSU announce it.
We are to honestly believe that Bruce is going back to the college game after serving as our National team HC twice and winning multiple titles in MLS? I thought the Caleb Porter rumor was wild. Is he bringing Klinsmann and Thomas Rongan in as assistants?
Steve Sampson coached the US national team in a World Cup, coached the Costa Rican national team, led the LA Galaxy to MLS Cup and US Open Cup titles... and now coaches a second-tier college program. Anything is possible. Though the odds of Bruce Arena or Caleb Porter coaching Ohio State are very slim.
It's Friday evening ... and no work from the Buckeyes on their new coach. Perhaps Arena decided that Columbus wasn't all that much like LA after all? Or are the final touches still being made on the deal?
Very true - but let's be honest - that was/is Steve Sampson. And did he "Really" coach us in a WC? That was a disaster!
Sooo.. Andy Fleming at XU? Eric Nichols from BGSU? Only options I would see possible if this were the case. I don't see Embick leaving Akron and the rest of the list wouldn't be smart hires at OSU.
Another former hot seat coach, Kelly Findley, has returned to college soccer. https://t.co/dIexv9o9fE
Lord knows, that one trip to the quarterfinals in 20 years at the biggest athletic department in the country makes her qualified. She's literally done less in her tenure at OSU than John Bluem did in his.
So Arena is out of the OSU picture then??? But seriously, folks ... in regards to social norms, Kim Wyant is already the head coach of the D3 NYU men's soccer team. http://www.gonyuathletics.com/coaches.aspx?path=msoc&
