is this the new font? or the same one? i cant tell anyways, we can keep discussing all the jerseys as well as the new fonts
Nice to see a new version of the thread! One caution: we were contacted by a copyright holder of the photos taken at the draft (the ones with the big C covering them) and asked politely not to allow the images in our threads. So while you can post a link thereto, actual images taken therfrom will be deleted. Carry on!
I don't know if all clubs have put out information on when you can buy the new jerseys. but this is what FCD said: I don't know if all teams are doing pre-sales in February, but just a heads up if they are.
The Revs' are on sale already. http://proshopcache.patriots.com/index.cfm?fa=browse.detail&pdid=17&pid=13298&sdid=17
With that in mind, here's a link to one image of all the teams I could find: http://aycu17.webshots.com/image/42456/2000757828970431696_rs.jpg
Those all look good except for DC. Why would they ditch the stripes across the front? I especially like Columbus and SJ from those pictures.
As I'd posted in the previous jersey thread, it was officially confirmed that SJ's home socks will be black rather than white, so the pictured home uniform will be even more color-coordinated that what's mistakenly depicted on the mannequin. From that post is also linked word (not official, but from a pretty reliable source) that SJ's jerseys may have a sponsor wordmark sooner rather than later, as well as that the primary uniform's color combo may (God willing) return back to blue shirt / black shorts / blue socks by 2009. -G
I don't think jerseys are quite as cookie-cutter as a lot of folks think...sure they have the same template but still... dc stands out - color and most simple (in a good way) ne stands out - design chivas and dallas stand out - vertical and horizontal stripes/hoops columbus stands out - color and design houston stands out - color and design with the grey swirl colorado stands out - colors the red/white bunch: ny stands out only because of the big corporate logo, but otherwise similar to tfc and chi to me...although i like that tfc's alternate jersey is grey, not white. the SJ and KC jerseys look clean and nice, but they look EXTREMELY similar to me color wise...I kinda was hoping SJ would revamp their colors so we didn't have another blue/white combo team. Good that they have black though. LA stands out, but that might only be because you see it everywhere, so I'm used to it...otherwise white looks similar to rsl whites...but I am glad there is the collar and the yellow...adds some distinction. always thought it looked real madrid-ish too. RSL stands out, but I always thought their jerseys were too "busy". Anyway, so for all the same template, I think there is quite a bit of distinction. I would like to see green when Seattle joins, and Philadelphia (if they are the next team) to go with Sons of Ben logo colors...baby blue (a la Man city) and yellow. Not sure what color would be good for St. Louis. I wouldnt mind seeing another team with a Chivas-type jersey, but different colors...Maybe green/white with seattle.
the white shirt, blue shorts away kits look extremely similar. hence why I said "good they have black" for the home kit...that adds distinction.
I dont think the black jersey is ugly but since blue is SJ's primary colour I would say have a blue home shirt and black as away or third. But as it ever been mentioned, why doesnt the team try blue and black stripers that way they have both primary colors in the home jersey and white can be used as away. The stripes would also be more suitable because we dont have a team with black stripes (only white) and the jersey will be unique - it wont be mainly blue like most MLS blue jerseys. Something like Colorado Rapids old jerseys or inter milans...I was actually kind of disspointed that Rapids changed jersey colours (eventhough I dont mind the new ones) because the blue and black stripes were unique and looked good.
I love that font. Will it be the league-wide font or is MLS going to let each team have a different one?
I'd expect the font to be same for all the teams in the league. But I really like the new name font. So far I'm impressed with the new jerseys for 2008.
If Niell does well this year in MLS, he'll be a savior to us short guys. This squad looks like it's going to tear Houston a new piece. No doubt.
our merchandise guy (posts at the dcu forum) says that the numbers will have the mls badge at the bottom (not shown in the above picture) once the jerseys are ready for "prime time."
