i think that the teams being promoted will be...

    Nürnberg, Freiburg, Rostock

playoff: Mainz, Duisburg, Rostock, Aachen, Fürth...and Wehen?

relegation threat: FSV Frankfurt, Ahlen, Pauli, Lautern, Osna, Oberhausen

...but hey, i'm actually terrible at predictions :D

You make a good point; isn't there a playoff this year for promotion? Is it top two automatically and third place in a playoff (like it used to be 15 years ago or so)? If so, Nuremberg and Mainz go up; Duisburg is your playoff team.

yes i believe there is a playoff from the 3rd to 6th place team
winner of that plays the 16th place finisher in the 1st liga (correct me if i'm wrong)

I have a good feeling that Freiburg will be preparing for first division football a year from now

Ill be following the 2. Liga a bit more this year to see what FSV is doing...

Unfortunately they cant play in their own ground and have to use the Waldstadion. That wont make them very attractive in my eyes. Even if the "Bernemer hang" Stadium is finished it wont be good enough for 2nd division (which is rediculous imo, it really cant cost that much more to make the stands 5 rows bigger while you are building them anyways...)

Whatever. Imo this is a pretty sympathetic club. It will be hard for them to keep their "alternative"-image in the Waldstadion. I might go to a game or two tough this season!

And say what you want, but this has to be one of the coolest badges of all times...

Hey Doc any reasons for Eintracht being friendly with FSV instead of them being rivals?

Simply because they sucked for too long... :D

I kinda like FSV. They are just so.... oldschool!

Before the war Eintracht-FSV was THE rivalry in Frankfurt and fairly fierce for the standarts of the time. Riots occured severall times. You have to see that the homegrounds of both teams, Eintrachts "Riederwald" and FSVs "Bornheimer Hang", are only about 500m from each other...
FSV was the better team for most of the 20s and 30s reaching both the championship- and the cupfinal. I dont know why, but during the 50s Eintrachts way went up and FSVs down. They were soon replaced by Offenbach as number one rival. After the establishmeht of Pro-Football and the Bundesliga they never really came back except for a few years of 2nd Division. Especially the last 7 years in 4th division killed any kind of rivalry. Most Eintrachtfans feel sorry for FSV, and there are actually close to no active FSV Fans. During the last decade FSVs Fans were litteraly dying away while most young people support Eintracht instead. While Eintracht is the club of the whole city of Frankfurt, FSV is and has allways been the club of Bornheim or "Bernem" as a Frankfurter would say. If they can keep that "alternative" image, I think they have a good chance to regain a certain amount of Fans. Maybe also some of those who cannot afford Tickets at Eintracht games anymore... Or just those that put value in history, a relaxed atmosphere and a good Bratwurst and Beer instead of the Piss they serve in the big stadiums... As I said before, that will not be the case tough if they have to play in the Waldstadion for too long...

Its wierd, I dont know any other big city where the two "big clubs" have no actual rivalry...

Yes, they are re-introducing the playoff:

Translation: The first and second placed teams in the table are automatically promoted at the end of the season, the third placed team will enter the reintroduced playoff with home and away against the third to last team in the Bundesliga. The winner of the duel will take the 18th place in next season's Bundesliga.

    Interesting.

Don't forget that there's "play off" games between the 1st & 2nd Bundesliga and between the 2nd & 3rd Bundesliga this season ... so only 2 teams will get promoted & relegated for sure.

    Yep, you're wrong...:p;)

    Btw: Here's my tip.

    Promotion

    1. Nürnberg
    2. Rostock

Duisburg, Mainz, Aachen, Freiburg, Fürth, 1860 and maybe Kaiserslautern will be fighting for the "play off" spot.

    Relegation

    18. RW Ahlen
    17. RW Oberhausen (although I hope that the former BMG idol Hans-Günter Bruns will manage to keep the league)

The relegation spot 16 will be taken by FSV Frankfurt, FC Ingolstadt or VfL Osnabrück.

Normally I should know that newbies often do pretty well, though...

Btw: Spot 16 is a "play down" relegation spot ... what means that Ahlen could save its ass by eliminating the 'spot 3' team from the 3 Bundesliga in 2 games.
