    I am thinking about running a 1-7-2 with 7 IMs against my first league opponent. What do you guys think?

    I would use the following players:

    Keeper
    TSI = 57 920 , 23 years, solid form
    Has inadequate experience and weak leadership abilities

    Stamina: excellent Keeper: titanic
    Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous
    Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous
    Scoring: disastrous Set pieces: disastrous

    Defender
    TSI = 3 280 , 26 years, passable form
    Has weak experience and weak leadership abilities [Unpredictable]

    Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
    Playmaking: wretched Passing: inadequate
    Winger: inadequate Defending: formidable
    Scoring: poor Set pieces: wretched

    Midfielder #1
    TSI = 5 260 , 27 years, weak form
    Has solid experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Technical]

    Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
    Playmaking: outstanding Passing: inadequate
    Winger: wretched Defending: inadequate
    Scoring: weak Set pieces: wretched

    Midfielder #2
    TSI = 6 920 , 23 years, inadequate form
    Has wretched experience and weak leadership abilities

    Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
    Playmaking: outstanding Passing: solid
    Winger: poor Defending: weak
    Scoring: weak Set pieces: wretched

    Midfielder #3
    TSI = 5 050 , 23 years, inadequate form
    Has wretched experience and inadequate leadership abilities

    Stamina: solid Keeper: disastrous
    Playmaking: outstanding Passing: inadequate
    Winger: wretched Defending: weak
    Scoring: inadequate Set pieces: inadequate

    Midfielder #4
    TSI = 730 , 32 years, solid form
    Has solid experience and weak leadership abilities [Powerful]

    Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
    Playmaking: passable Passing: solid
    Winger: wretched Defending: wretched
    Scoring: inadequate Set pieces: disastrous

    Midfielder #5
    TSI = 270 , 35 years, inadequate form
    Has solid experience and passable leadership abilities [Powerful]

    Stamina: excellent Keeper: wretched
    Playmaking: solid Passing: inadequate
    Winger: poor Defending: weak
    Scoring: inadequate Set pieces: weak

    Midfielder #6
    TSI = 980 , 25 years, solid form
    Has poor experience and inadequate leadership abilities

    Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
    Playmaking: passable Passing: wretched
    Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
    Scoring: inadequate Set pieces: poor

    Midfielder #7
    TSI = 1 660 , 30 years, solid form

    Scoring: passable Set pieces: weak

    Striker #1
    TSI = 4 540 , 19 years, solid form
    Has disastrous experience and passable leadership abilities [Unpredictable]

    Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
    Playmaking: wretched Passing: inadequate
    Winger: poor Defending: weak
    Scoring: outstanding Set pieces: inadequate

    Striker #2
    TSI = 3 210 , 26 years, inadequate form

    Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
    Playmaking: wretched Passing: solid
    Winger: weak Defending: weak
    Scoring: excellent Set pieces: divine

    According to HT Ratings Calc I would pull the following stats:

    Team Attitude: Match of the Season
    Tactic: Attack In the Middle
    Tactic Skill: Outstanding

    Midfield: solid (very low)
    Right Defense: poor (high)
    Center Defense: passable (very high)
    Left Defense: weak (high)
    Right Attack: wretched (very high)
    Center Attack: inadequate (low)
    Left Attack: poor (low)

    Do you think I would be able to defeat Knightz of Lord (8427) with this tactic?? My thinking is he has scouted my past matches and sees that I normally get a weak midfield, so he won't be too concerned... and then bam! I win midfield and maybe the match? Or will this end up horribly if I attempt it?

    *I really, really, really want to beat him. I am sick of always getting one of the top 10 division IV teams who are being demoted because the previous one went undefeated... so I want to give this guy a loss so, at the very least, we get an easier team next season.

    And if the 1-7-2 won't work, what would?

    I don't think you'd best him, while you'd have the better midfield, your inexperience would likely hurt you as would your lack of wingbacks.

    But, the sheer craziness of it just might work.

    and even after you lose, we'll still talk about it for months...

    "Hey, remember when zeek started seven midfielders? What kind of apeshit stuff was that?"

    Now I am definitally considering doing it. :D

    I mean, besides midfield, I also have the divine set piece guy. Maybe a few special events will be the difference. :D

    If I do, what kind of crazy formation would you guys like to see in my friendly, since I might as well do something in that if I'm going to blow training for the week. :p

    wouldn't you suffer some like serious confusion? I think you should do it as an experiment and report back.

    Zeek,

    Have you ever played a 2-5-3? That'll give you some idea of how much disorganization and the resultant possession you'll get.

    Why not run it, go for 2 Off CD's and 1 or 2 def FWDs - It's a valid formation and you won't lose training yet you'll be stacking the mid and still get a nice offensive push.

    Training is way more important than silly league points, just my opinion.

    I say go for it though - otherwise we'll never see it. :D

    I considered it, but the best midfield I can get out of it is inadequate (very high). My opponent is going to have at least passable, so that's not going to be very helpful. With the 1-7-2 I can get a solid midfield.

    Just curious, but what happens if you play a "real" formation in your league match and then something like a 1-7-2 in a friendly. Would you still lose training?

    Doesn't look like it's going so well. I am impressed you tried it though.

    Well, since training is gone for the week, I threw a 2-4-4 at my Faroe Islands opponent. MatchID: 67077156

    It was good for 5 goals and I won 5-3. :D

    Also I'm still waiting for this rep. :p
