FYI - NOW WITH YOUR INFERNO MEMBERSHIP FREE EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE!!! So, after the lovely thrashing of the Rapids tonight, I'm comfortably cruising down Central Expressway when all of a sudden a large object (perhaps the charred remains of the Crapids backup keeper, jettisoned from their bus) comes flying at my car. Despite my cat-like, superhuman reflexes (those of you on the InfernoII rec team can vouche for that) I was unable to avoid the mystery object. I then had that nervous post-impact moment when you pray that nothing serious is damaged.....followed by the quick realization that I was travelling down a major highway at 65 mph with my front, passenger side tire ripped to shreds. Luckily I find a nice spot where the highway and an on ramp meet that was nice and wide, so that I hopefully wouldn't meet the same fate as the aforementioned Rapids keeper. I was about 2-3 minutes into changing the flat when, lo and behold, I see Dustin's beautiful face (hey, I was desperate, you had to be there). He noticed my Inferno t-shirt and stopped to offer his assistance. He had pulled over into the same little strip of safety that I had, putting himself and his wife into moderate danger, just to see if I was okay. Thanks, man, that was extremely nice. Just so everyone knows, I changed the tire without incident and finally got home around 10:45. Anyway, next time you get the chance, shake Dustin's hand for me......he's one of the good ones.
I walked all the way back to my car on Exposition street only to find my battery was dead. The friendly folks at the New Amsterdam Hash Bar, er I mean Coffee Bar were kind enough to let me borrow their phone to call a friend for a jump. So, thanks to the artsy set. PS, TexGator do you have a white SUV by any chance?
See, this is why we should carpool, dammit! Hey, but it couldn't put a damper on a wonderful 3-NIL victory.
I know it, you can ride with us on Saturday in the Frisco-Cotton Bowl shuttle that has become my car.
Thanks for the offer, but I can't make it Saturday. I have something else that will end just after 7:00, so I'll be watching over my newly acquired DSL connection. No more dial up.....yipppeeee!
I was sitting with a friend of mine last night and pointed out Dustin- "See the guy down there in the cowboy hat? He goes by El Jefe" "Of course he does." I thought that pretty much summed it up. Thanks for being the gametime leader of the merrymen, El Jefe!
