Thank you to MLSNET for showing the world that Mullan was offside

Watching the game last night between LA and NE, and I saw at least one yellow for something similar to what happened to Danny. IMO, the SJ fans are wrong and can stuff it. It wasn't as if we're talking about Terry Pendergrast and Berhalter's arm out of his forehead. Both of Danny's yellows were legit for professional fouls - fouling to break up the play on a breakaway - which has been a yellow since '98. I have consistently seen that called in MLS - esp. this year.

I'm talking about problems like this offsides call - or the Maruffo two-yellows = nothing situation in 2003.

Where is the AR? Shouldn't he be in the picture?

Funny you should mention that. I think you can *barely* see his shadow there on the sideline. Looks like he is a good two to five yards ahead of the play.

How can you ever forget the face of a person who so totaly blew a call that even the player (Joe-Max) was so suprised he almost stopped as he was looking back for the flag. Yes place this moron on the hit list, he must die.

That's because he's the spawn of Satan and casts no shadow.

Especially when you compare the AR's shadow to the proximty of Mullan's shadow. Pure crap positioning. I saw the clip before I heard you guys complaining about the offside and I threw my flag up.....muttering to myself...."self, mullan was offside on that.....by a mile."

Apparently you might be in the loop in terms of stuff like this - PLEASE tell me that the game was being assessed and this AR failed his assessment. Pretty please, with sugar on top?

I'm definitely NOT in the loop. However, it's my understanding that all professional and PDL games are assessed.

I meant conversationally - and your last point confirms what I had hoped.

IYO, was that blown call enough to warrant a failed assessment (assuming he is five yards out of position?)

I remember seeing this play from behind the Inferno. As soon as Mullan got the ball offside, I glanced at the AR, expecting to see the flag go up. He was well ahead of the line. Mullan almost took his second touch on the ball before coming up level.

Blame FSC. We had nothing to do with that.

I am 98% sure that every game is assesed.

At least there is a ref guy taking notes in the press box at every FCD game I have been to for the last 10 years.

What kind of note did he take following the no-call on Saturday, I bet it contained the phrase "up his ass" somewhere in there.

A sampling of three games is not nearly enough to make such an assumption. ;)

Is there a better angle? I don't have FSC. It looks as if the ball gets played in to the corner of the 18-yd box and then played out towards the touchline about another 5 yards. The resulting cross near the goal box, although not a 'floater', isn't 'whipped' in either. Therefore, is it possible the defender near Alvarez got caught ball watching and wasn't prepared for a run by Alvarez on his blind-side?

It was Mullan......and i'm not sure what he was watching......but it definitely wasn't Alvarez.

My apologies...thanks for correcting me. I was momentarily confused because the first post mentioned both Mullan and Alvarez. For a moment, I forgot I was on the FC Dallas forum and thought maybe someone was goading people to vote for Arturo as a sarcastic thing to do.

You should learn to chill out.

The only thing that matters is winning MLS Cup.

Who wins the Supporter's Shield, who coaches the All-Star game, etc, etc, are minor in comparison.
