He had 6 starts in 9 games before joining the NT, even scoring right before he joined I don’t get the hate towards him, the Nads played MLS players with less ceiling last night
This. He's part of the U17 World Cup team that has most of the players not even making their debut. How can you discard a guy that is younger than guys like Luis Puente and Israel Luna?
Now you now why Mexican-American players like Efra, Ochoa, etc. would rather play for Mexico than for the Nads
He's not technically great, is short as hell and is not athletic with no speed or spark whatsoever. We can discard him now. This is 2021. 99% of the Un athletic Wing players end up being garbage.
I hoped we’d learned from Julio Gómez and Eduardo López that these small, pudgy and unathletic players need to be technical gods in order to keep up with men.
That right there might be the key difference. They probably have a much better training regimen in the MLS
Since when do we rate the MLS? Nearly every single player but for Vela has significantly lowered their level of play with us since moving there. Shit is damaging to our team in all reality.
When it comes to already established player within their prime and more than enough experience like the Pizarro’s, Pulido’s, etc. then yeah, those guys’ level & form dropped immensely and should never be called back to the NT again However, with young unproven players like Efra, Ochoa, Araujo, etc. who are still very young and have a higher ceiling, I think it’s a good idea to keep an eye on them, especially if they are already starting with their respective clubs. These are players that have a good chance of going abroad or even get picked up by Liga MX clubs to better develop them Hell, look at Salcedo. Sure, he sucks now. But back in 2014/2015 he was playing in the MLS until Chivas picked him up. He quickly adapted and became one of the league’s better CBs and then went to play in Germany. Same thing can happen for those young U-20/U-23 players in the MLS
That's true. Salcedo when he was in Germany was really good for us. But I think it's different because he clearly had all the physical tools to succeed, where's Efra clearly does not. He is just tooo slow. We recently saw what happened when we had no speed on the wings. Teams just pressed us to death and none of our guys could punish them on the counter like we did in the 3-0 friendly against the nads because they did not have any speed.
You make it seem like they out played us. When in reality they sat back and were outplayed. While we were missing arguably our 3 best players in RJ, Lozano and Ochoa. Plus key guys in Lianez, Romo and Antuna etc. Stop
It's funny that you talked about stopping after saying we were missing Antuna. The US has as good as opportunities as Mexico to score. And it was no contest on who was missing more players. The LEAST we could've done is "outplay" them.
They sat back and got a 1 goal win. Wow, sooo impressive. Totally proves the MLS is on par with the Mexican National Team. One result. Anyways. Disagreements aside. How does this prove anything positive in regards to Efra? Is he tall like the nads? No. Is he quick? No. Fast? No. Technically gifted like Corona, Lainez, or Vega? Nope. Okay then, what exactly are we missing here?
He was hyped like crazy by the nads (as is customary). The problem is that this hype transferred over seamlessly to our fan base.
It was an MLS team all star and this "they sat back" as if that takes anything away from the fact they beat us with their B team at best. We saw this stuff constantly for years and with all the excuses of "we were the ones playing football" as if that means anything in the end. It was a terrible result and there is no excuse for it.
It was a terrible result but there's a significant difference between getting outplayed and losing to a bunker team. If we got outplayed on the ball, then holy shit we'd be in hella trouble but alas we did not and we were missing sooo many difference makers too you can't deny it.
There isn't that much of a difference and it's incredibly dangerous for years to think so. This SAME movie has happened before and it was even worse. There weren't game where they had as many dangerous opportunities as Mexico did like last time, games where Mexico had all the possession and would still lose in the 1 or 2 they had. That "It's not a problem, we were better on the field, they play the antifutbol" shit is fine and dandy until we can't get a win in Columbus or they eliminate us in the World Cup in 2002. It sure matters that because of that mentality we missed out on the 5to partido in a World Cup and in the end it sure looks totally hollow to claim you're "better" when they get to play the 5to partido at your expense or when they defeat you twice in official competitions, one of which they did with a B team and after people were complaining about them sending that squad while Mexico had to sent their good team.
