ARD and ZDF are public broadcasters. The thing is while you get to see NT games for free(actually everyone pays a monthly fee) but they are clearly not masters of innovation or quality. You could say SKY is business, ARD and ZDF are economy class. Cause watching Bundesliga via SKY does give that you this "stadium option". On a regular basis, they also have co-commentators.
The problem is ARD/ZDF have so much more money than SKY or others that it's unacceptable what they bring to the table qualitywise. But think of if someone of the ZDF chief editorship goes to Rhety and tells him to accept an equal commentator. The structures are so conservative and the produced coverage just boring broadly speaking and cratching at the surface of the topic as best it's hilarious. You just expect them to explain the offside rule before every tournament. Just a fundamental waste of money
The ITV commentator said, "He's done well to hit Philipp Lahm from there. The smallest wall ever assembled on a football pitch, and Ronaldo hit it."
