Well...they sure screwed the pooch in this game...I figured they could get at least a draw & would be looking damn good for Portugal; still like their chances, but...for God's sake...Albania?? They did give England a hell of a match a while back when the Three Lions visited tourist mecca Tirana, so I guess the can't be all that shabby.

On a side note -- how about those mighty Lithuanians going nose to nose with the Krauts? Now if they could only bring back the Grateful Dead tie-dyed thing & replace those awful Hummel kits....good result for Ukraine, as well.

I like the Hummel threads. Nice, simple and to the point. Grateful-Dead-style kits have thankfully gone the way of the Nineties.
Howhever, it does look like the Lits have developed an allergical reaction ot the colour red. I have noticed this with some of the ex-Soviets sides who have red in the colour of their national flag: they make a point of avoiding it in their uniform. Lithuania, Moldova, Azerbaijan and -- yes! -- Russia.
Geez, 12 years after the death of the Soviet Union they may as well get over this.

I suppose it would do no good to make the point out of the fact that red flags were in use long before the Bolsheviks came about.

Is this really true or just a bad dream?

I saw the score on the ESPN Matchtracker and thought that this must be incorrect. Checking the BigSoccer EE Board, the sarcastic and ascerbic remarks reflected the unhappy news. Can anyone update me as to what really happened?

    This is @#$#%#@##@@@!~!~!!!!!

Albania dominated and should've won big. They missed a penalty early on and Russia scored on their only shot of the match.
An overall horrendous performance by Gazzayev's team. No excuses, no refereeing mistakes. Plain old asswhupping.

Shurik, thanks for the commentary. Looks like you are in Baltimore right now. When did you move down from Rochester? Also, can we assume you are a DC United fan?

Gazza went by the way of OIR and played a miserable Red Army side , in order to increase the values of the players whose agent is " shocking surprise " none other tha Gazza. C'mon - Berezutskii ??????????? Once Karyaka , Semshov and Sychev return to the starting lineup , with Loko players waking up from the CL 2nd round debacle , a hope might rear it's deceiving head.

    Back in November.
No, I am still primarily a Buffalo Sabres fan :)
In MLS, it's the KC Wizards, but only for as along as Simutenkov is playing for them.
