If he or other South East Asian players are good enough, it will be good to help promote our league, to sign up guys like this. Put it this way- he couldn't be any worse than a Brian Deane!
it would be fairly hard to impress against the socceroos . if the rest of his team are not up to the standard it could be hard for him to get a touch
Well said. Although if we look at it from the other side, if Australia have an off day, and this kid plays good, he could REALLY impress. Dont underestimate any asian countries, they aren't easy wins.
this winothai guy is good player..here i'll give you a list of good promosing players from ASEAN : 1.Teratheep winothai (AMC,FC) Thailand 2. Boaz Salossa (AMCRL,SC) Indonesia 3. Baihakki Khaizan (DC,DR) SIngapore 4. Datsakorn Thonglao (FC) Thailand 5. Ellie AIboy (AMR) Indonesia 6. Ismed SOfyan (DRL,WLR) Indonesia 7. Bambang Pamungkas (SC) Indonesia
Teratheep Winothai was good in Asian cup. I like Bambang too, but was shocked when I heard how old he was, someone once told me he was a teenager, but I looked him up the other day and he is in late 20's! Thailand right back was a good player too!
I REALLY hope the A-League clubs gave the Asian Cup a good look over. Some of these nations, like Iraq, Iran, Uzbekistan, Oman, China etc.. have some very talented players and some of them could be brought in for the average A-League wage, as opposed to being a Marquee signing. Though some of the Mid East based players get big wages, so we're unlikely to entice them. Command of English and adapting culturally could be an issue too, but generally a minor issue, as most seem to know basic english atleast. Strength and Fitness levels could be an issue aswell, with some, but most I doubt that would be a problem or could be addressed during their time spent at an A-League club. Some of the most talented from many of this countries would add an instant fillip in technical ability. Due to, as is often mentioned, many Asian countries producing players who are well developed technically, much more so than many Australian players. Dam I wish Glory would get in there, bring an Iraqi over, like Nashat Akram, Younis Mahmoud or somebody.
LOL, yeh i'd love to see those guys too, but their about to be snapped up by clubs in the big 5, they won't be coming here
lol, by big 5, you mean AC Milan, Barca and co? Hehe doubt it. Though Nashat Akram has been linked with Sunderland. I'm sure if our coaches were a bit more savvy and dynamic with their scouting/eye for talent, combined with the clubs pursuing them and making formal inquiries, we could pick up some of the cream of the talent in Asian Football, for quite good value. A few of these guys are still Amateurs and semi-pros for petes sake. Its all about having your eyes open. Atleast they can trial some of these guys, or get tapes of them. Asia can be a gold mine. Oh well, atleast the A-League has developed a love of South American talent and seems to have finally gotten over being enamoured with British talent *cough* Brian Deane *cough* . Asia is definately the next horizon though, aswell. BTW You hear how back in 2004 Australia rejected an approach by Iraq to play a friendly, so they played a Select WA XI instead? The reasoning for rejecting them was basically, 'They weren't of good enough standard.' Pure arrogance by us. This is what's really behind this lack of pursuing Asia, from some quarters. Just outdated perceptions of our football superiority over Asia and that their players are somehow inferior or not to standard. Iraq and Oman certainly proved otherwise.
