I'm not sure if we already have a thread for off-season rumours, so if we do, Mods, please move this post over. EDIT: We do now, moved some posts from the 'Official' off-season roster thread as they are more appropriate here.
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread The transfer window is open, any ideas out there about what Mo should or shouldn't be doing? Is he planning a scouting trip this winter? The only news we have heard so far is about the guys he let go. The team is short roughly 6 players now including starters and backups for a full roster.
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread Sounds like a less impressive version of our favourite Danny D is on trial: http://www.imscouting.com/global-ne...orijan-to-undergo-trial-with-Toronto-FC/4805/
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread There is another player on trial too with the club, keeper by the name of Nils Binstock. http://www.icgaels.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=64287&SPID=7095&DB_OEM_ID=14900&ATCLID=204865240
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread Interestingly, Nils used to hang out with the U-Sector at Centennial Park for Lynx games. More info here: http://z15.invisionfree.com/U_Sector/index.php?showtopic=12431
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread It is interesting that we are considering getting a new keeper when you would think Frei and Edwards would be a lock for next season, I guess some competition never hurts.
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread Yes exactly. I doubt that he's the only keeper TFC is looking at. If I'm Edwards, I can't help but feel a bit nervous about all this.
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread There were also stirrings that TFC might be shopping Frei around, figuring that he'll be off to Europe eventually and that he can be easily replaced.
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread Maybe the European rumor could be true (though I don't think he is ready yet), as far as trading him still would think it would be a poor move considering he is still classed as a GA player which cost nothing on the cap. It would have some be some deal for a club to take him from us.
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread Hey Toronto fans, what about Pablo Richetti? Would you take him?
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread Not really, we already have enough CM in the squad right now. I would take DVB off your hands
Re: Official Toronto FC Off-Season Roster Thread According to GOL TV's Football Today (1/07/2010), TFC has over $600k in allocation money available. Since MLSE owns GOL TV Canada, I would expect that figure to be accurate.
TFC Off-season rumour thread Anyway, soccer365 is reporting the following: Source: http://www.soccer365.com/us_news/story_11110224932.php And, MLSDraft.net is reporting that TFC will be trialing CB Ross Smith: Source: http://www.mlsdraft.net/?q=node/286
Re: TFC Off-season rumour thread Ok, moved the trialist info and speculation from the 'Official' roster thread and moved them here, speculate and suggest away.
Re: TFC Off-season rumour thread Though not much made of it but Ives says that there are rumors we are trying to trade up in the draft and Wynne is being used as bait. (Look at the first answer to see this timbit of information) http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/01/your-mls-draft-questions-answered-part-one.html
Re: TFC Off-season rumour thread For those unfamiliar with Ross Smith he's a Guelph, ON native who was forced to temporarily retire at this time last year after he had just signed with Colorado and it was discovered he had a heart defect. After successful surgery he signed with Ebbsfleet Utd. of the English Conference. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/e/ebbsfleet/8357768.stm
Re: TFC Off-season rumour thread According to wiki we sign a new Egyptian defender Ibrahim Said from Alahly Tripoli in Libya. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibrahim_Said http://nilesports.com/news/?p=2109
Re: TFC Off-season rumour thread Andres Mendoza to MLS. Strong physical forward from Peru... According to his agent (and a peruvian newspaper) he has received an offer from an MLS team... Could it be Toronto? This guy can produce really good results, but he is not consistent... he used to get called to the national team often, but sat on the bench for the most part.
Re: TFC Off-season rumour thread Two Toronto fans (I assume since I don't recognize them as Rapids fans) are posting int he Rapids forum that you've traded us some draft picks for Jacob Peterson. No sourcing what-so-ever ont eh rumor though, so take it for what it's worth. Have you guys heard anything?
Re: TFC Off-season rumour thread Seems dubious. Not seeing this anywhere else after a quick look, I'm treating that with the same level of suspicion your board has.
Re: TFC Off-season rumour thread The only thing that might give this rumour weight is that Ives said TFC had made a trade at the draft, but had yet to announce it....but still, this sounds like a real dumb-dumb... edit: I think this might be confusion over Stephen Paterson of the Thunder Bay Chill being invited to TFC camp: http://www.tbnewswatch.com/sports/Default.aspx?cid=78249 This was posted by BBTB on the V's site
Ibrahim Said on trial with TFC The Sun reported today that TFC have offered a tryout to Ibrahim Said, a defender from Egypt. http://www.torontosun.com/sports/soccer/2010/01/20/12546516-qmi.html Any opinions from anyone on the quality of these two players?
Re: TFC Off-season rumour thread This trade (for Jacob Peterson) has been made, for allocation money. See other thread
Re: TFC Off-season rumour thread The Score's Kristian Jack received confirmation from Jorge Andrade that he will come to trial at TFC on February 8. Here's the 24th Minute blog about it: http://www.24thminute.com/2010/01/jorge-andrade-to-trial-at-tfc-moderate.html
