Just curious if any T-Dot radio station stepped up to cover TFC matches on radio? Maybe I missed it if it was said. If so, sorry about that. Also, I was curious if Sirius satellite radio will do any TFC matches, or any MLS matches at all. I do have Sirius radio, and do listen to the Premiership matches when I can, plus the Soccer Show with Charlie Stillitano and Giorgio (People love me! They REALLY, REALLY love me!) Chinaglia. If most can't watch the games on TV, maybe this might be then next best thing.
I'd assume Fan 590 will carry the games, seeing as how they have national exposure through Galaxie on ExpressVu and have affiliates across Canada.
I doubt that the Fan590 will be carrying most of the games as there are multiple scheduling conflicts with the Jays games. (If it was about a four hour difference between the start times, they were added to the conflict listing) April 7th: Jays @7:10, TFC @10:30 April 25th: Jays @7:05, TFC @8:00 April 28th: Jays @1:07, TFC @12:30 May 12th: Jays @1:07, TFC @3:30 May 16th: Jays @7:07, TFC @7:00 May 26th: Jays @7:10, TFC @7:30 June 2nd: Jays @1:07, TFC @3:30 June 6th: Jays @7:07, TFC @7:00 June 17th: Jays @1:07, TFC @1:00 July 1st: Jays @ 4:05, TFC @8:00 July 22nd: Jays @1:07, TFC @5:00 July 29th: Jays @2:05, TFC @3:00 Aug 11th: Jays @7:10, TFC @7:30 Aug 18th: Jays @1:07, TFC @6:30 Aug 25th: Jays @9:05, TFC@7:30 Sept 8th: Jays @7:10, TFC @8:30 Sept 15th: Jays @1:07, TFC @3:30, Sept 22nd: Jays @1:05, TFC @3:30, And as a Jays fan I hope there are multiple conflicts in October. Leaving April 14th (@ NE), May 19th (vs. DC), June 23rd (@ NE), July 4th (@RSL) , July 7th (@Chi), July 15th (@ Dal), August 5th (vs. LA), September 29th (@DC), all 4 October games, as the only dates when a guaranteed full radio broadcast could be done. Excluding October, basically all those dates are road games (6 out of 8), which I doubt they'd send a crew to cover those games.
Other than the Fan 590, which I doubt because of the Blue Jays, there is AM 640. Other than that, I am not so sure that a radio statio will be picking it up. As a side note - has anyone else found it starnge that neither TV nor radio information has been passed onto fans? I mean, besides the games shown on US stations like ESPN2 and FSC, there hasn't been any information on games being televised by a Canadian carrier
Star reported today that both CBC and Sportnet will carry around 20 matches or so and there will be some on GolTV as well
It would be good to see MLS on Satellite radio. I bought XM Radio last summer to get the world cup broadcasts and chat shows and it was a great way to follow. I've been thinking about getting Sirius to listen to the premier league channel, but held off with the hope that the Sirius-XM merger might let me hear without switching. If they add MLS coverage as well though, I might just switch services. Regarding coverage on the local radio stations, I'd be surprised if it happened given that it's rare to hear about the game. If it is talked about (like it was during the World Cup), it's usually neanderthals with little or no knowledge speaking about how it'll never work here. It would be great to see a station take a chance though, airing the games and then having a phone-in afterwards.
I had no idea that The Fan had affiliates. I went to the website and couldn't find any station frequencies. Er...do you know where I can find a list or something, I'd really like to check that out.
