What makes football (soccer) so attractive on television? The passion of the supporters, the constant singing and chanting, the moans and groans of the crowd. When a ground is filled with traveling support in large numbers, it simply makes for good TV. Expect more than 1000 TFC supporters to make the trip to Columbus on March 29 and ESPN should be there to show the rest of North America how a team should be supported by their fans. IF the crew fans decide to be vocal, expect a wonderful game because the players will be motivated on a chilly March afternoon to win for their supporters. So ESPN, nevermind Dallas vs Kansas City where 5,000 ppl are lost in a 90,000 seat stadium. Be where the action will be that saturday afternoon, that is in Columbus where 1000+ Canadians will be creating an atmosphere in an MLS game.... WHAT? ATMOSPHERE? MLS? THOSE TWO WORDS ARE NOT SYNONYMOUS WITH ONE ANOTHER.. Teach American's about the culture of soccer, and traveling support is a pillar in the game and it should be documented on ESPN.... come on, do it right for once.... PLEASE!
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus I understand what you're trying to say, but I don't think ESPN would like to show a team that was near the bottom of last year's table on TV Opening Weekend. Makes sense to me.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus I don't expect soccer-common-sense from ESPN, at least not in the US.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus Well I heard that game is going to be the ABC season opener.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus Out of morbid curiosity, exactly how many ribs did you have surgically removed in order to suck yourself off so fervently?

Sunday, March 30 Chivas USA FC Dallas 3:00 p.m. buy tickets! http://web.mlsnet.com/mls/schedule/ personally, i'd expect houston-new england (the mls cup finalists) to make for better television than two teams that didn't make the play-offs. and i don't think "synonymous" means what you think it does, either. "burger" and "fries" aren't synonymous, but we associate them with one another. maybe "'mls crowd' is not an oxymoron" or "... not a contradiction in terms" is what you were looking for.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus Yawn. I understand the enthusiasm but some have been at it for 12 years. You're not the first large group to create atmosphere and with luck won't be the last.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus I love the atmosphere and all, but it can only get you so far. What ultimately matters to me the most is what's played on the field. If the match is exciting, like most of the playoff games last year, I would still enjoy it even if atmosphere isn't there. Whereas, if I have to watch another one of TFC and its goalless streak games from last year, even in BMO, ugh, no thanks.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus The hilarious part is that the original poster doesn't realize that this game will be the only game of the season on national TV over the air....the game broadcast to the most tv stations in the country.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus Any opportunity to post that video, eh jade? BTW, I am fully aware of the history of various supporters groups in the league, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for all of them, especially La Barra Brava. But the original poster is obviously just excited at the prospect of 1000 travelling fans in an MLS match, something that no one has accomplished yet (to my knowledge, anyways). There's nothing wrong with being proud of that, IMO. I do have to wonder why ABC chose Columbus v. Toronto as their season opener, though. Quite frankly it makes no sense to me.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus Nice video, I can understand now why PP is preferable to a site outside of DC for a stadium. You can't get that type of atmosphere in Maryland or Virginia. Hope you get your stadium.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus I don't think that MLS had no small part in that decision. I think that teams with smaller stadiums will get preference for televised games first of all. Second, Garber has said before that he would like to export the TFC atmosphere to the rest of the league. Part of that will be showing that strong away support is part of that formula. I also thing that bad or not, TFC will get a bit more than it's fair share of televised home games in an effort to educate certain regions of the MLS landscape (FCD, KCW, this means you) on how to create a footballing atmosphere at a game. Maybe seeing it on tv, and from a Canadien team at that, will shame certain fanbases to be more vocal at home games.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus It is something of a phenomena that TFC has such support. Let's face it, they are not very good. Apparently, though, the original poster has never seen Dynamo support in action, but it doesn't really get into full swing until the play-offs so I can understand. Be excited about your team, that's great. But come on you think TFC v Columbus is the game to watch? Seriously?
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus It's not surprising if you look at thier demographics. Heavy imigration from Asia, the Caribbean, Italy, UK, etc. It was a no-brainer that football would have it's most fervent fanbase and will likely continue to be so. They are used to getting games from leagues where a last place finish will get you relegated so being able to go at it at the highest level year after year, win or no, probably sits just fine with them. Not to mention that it appears that there will be a Canadien spot to CONCACAF and they will only have to compete against USL-1 sides to get it. Ample reason to stay supportive. At least it shows that the fanbase is paying attention to what is going on in thier season, and not just showing up when Beckham or Club America are there.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus It really gets embarrassing to constantly see some 13 year old kid come on here and brag about how great TFC fans are, even though they know nothing about the league. Even the fact that he doesn't know that we have the ABC first kick national game shows his lack of knowledge. does TFC have great fans, yes are we the best in the league, debatable there are some great supporters clubs in this league and they all seem to be growing. it's a revolution bitches! just gotta keep up the momentum
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus as a fellow spurs fan, i will not argue with you. but you should know that when you have a team, you follow them. whe nspurs were at the bottom of the table early in the season, did support dwindle? of course not. we have only had one season. im glad that i have a team to go watch and support. i think that would have to be shit for a long time before we see a drop in support
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus Edit: quote from Unak78: "At least it shows that the fanbase is paying attention to what is going on in thier season, and not just showing up when Beckham or Club America are there.
You missed my point. Dynamo fan are always there, just even more so in tournaments, competitions, and playoffs. If you watched our regular season and say the Western conf. game against the Wiz you would know what I mean.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus 1000 Toronto fans in that morgue in Columbus will add some life. They need to move that team out of Ohio.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus I'm pretty sure (though I could be wrong) that RBNY holds the record with 800+ traveling down to DC for the '06 opener. I'm not sure if that's been broken yet, and I'm sure some people will say that it doesn't count because RB paid for it, but really that's a pretty impressive number (especially in the U.S.) no matter what the situation.
Re: Espn Take Note!! Tfc Invades Columbus I agree and perhaps we in/from Houston have been spoiled by having a ready made back to back championship team come in without suffering through the rough times first. With the Sprurs it's slightly different though. They represent a hope for a time when the PL isn't the same 3 or 4 on top of the table. They are a beloved and storied franchise with huge support from that which they represent, the people.
