There's already a thread about this just above yours.

Like I said in the other thread, I like this bold move by TFC. They've certainly set out "a new direction" to take their team and organization.

Now all they need are the players. They currently only have 16 or so under contract, a bunch of them not very good.

Andy Dick, Carlton from Fresh Prince, and the guy from The Shield is certainly a better technical team than we have in Chicago right now.

I'll actually answer: Bob de Klerk - 1st assistant. He came from the Ajax youth system.

Re: Aron Winter to become TFC Technical Director

here are some of the former Head Coaches of Jong Ajax (like Winter) who are currently managers:

Louis Van Gaal - FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga, GER 1st Div)

Pieter Huistra - FC Groningen (Eredivisie, HOL 1st Div)

John van den Brom - ADO Den Haag (Eredivisie, HOL 1st Div)

Adrie Koster - Club Brugge (Belgian Pro League, BEL 1st Div)

John van 't Schip - Melbourne Hearts (A-League, AUS 1st Div)

Alfons Groenendijk - FC Den Bosch (Erste Divisie, HOL 2nd Div)

not too bad a managerial/coacing tree so to speak ...

And he could end up being very important. He was a manager of Ajax's amateur side, and apparently had a lot of success there. Any people from outside the US soccer system who are capable of succeeding in MLS are likely those who are used to playing with small, constrained budgets.

getting rid of DeRo would be starting a fresh direction for TFC- keeping him around, especially as captain, is unthinkable-- let him do his goal-scoring, cheque-writing antics someplace else-- truly unprofessional and too egocentric

and Canada would do well to dismiss him from the national team where he is usually a MAJOR disappointment

What is "Jong Ajax"? I've never heard that expression (the "Jong" part).

    Yes, I would agree.

Jong, I assume, means young. It basically is their reserve/youth team.

Funny you should mention him. He's the guy TFC originally wanted to bring in.

In his playing days, Mariner was a skillful target forward, so he should know what skill is.

His coaching prowess probably comes down to the lowest common denominator in the English football but he was way above that level as a player,
