So you don't want MLS to ever be one of the 5 best leagues in the world?

Only one of 22 players in the Euro plays in Croatia. There's nothing we can do about it but at least i'm not HAPPY to see them go. But we're a country of
4.5 milion people, of course the economy is to small.
Argentina is big enough to have a stong football market. And what do your clubs do with the fees they get from european clubs? Who were the most recent players sold and how much did you get for them? Why not invest that money in a new contract for Tevez and keep him until he 24, 25? I realise that Europe is finacily stronger, but I don't understand that you are happy to see your players go and not try anything to keep them.

    ¿Será Carlinhos?
Una súper oferta del Corinthians: 18.000.000. Un empresario vinculado al club de Brasil ofreció esa suma (en dólares) por Carlitos. Otro que se suma a la lista...

domestic players alone does not a world class league make.

I am realistic enough to realize that MLS will not be in the top 5 leagues of the world in my lifetime, BUT it is possible for the USMNT to be one of the top 5 national teams in the world and possibly win a world cup in my lifetime ( albeit towards the end of my life)

Everything has to do with money.

A)The club owner wants to pocket money instead of directly investing it on his team or stadium. This is the case for most of the team selling players and you know it true.

B)The players want to go where the money is at.

I really believe things could be different if the Latin Americans teams owner invest most of the money from transer on the Club or stadium.

In 1958 Brazil wins WC with 100% of our players playing in the brazilian league.
In 1962 Brazil wins WC with 100% of our players playing in the brazilian league.
In 1970 Brazil wins WC with 100% of our players playing in the brazilian league.
In 1982 Brazil has the best team in the WC with 100% of our players playing in the brazilian league.

The fact that the south american players are playing in europe doesnt make them better players. It is a stupid thought that some europeans have. They would be the same or even better if they stayed in south america.

Its a fact: if our best players (argentina and brazil) were playing here in south america, we would have the best national teams AND our leagues would be two of the best in the world (if not the BEST TWO IN THE WORLD).

Ask your parents if they missed, in the 60s and 70s, their teams best players going to europe. Of course not, fukc off europe, the best players in the world are the argentineans and brazilians. This imigration is very bad for south american football and who thinks different is wrong.

this is an interesting idea. it's a wrong idea, but interesting.

if we were to list the XI best footballers in the world now, by position, my guess is that there would be, at the very most(!), 3 brazilians and maybe one (or two) argentines.

humor me. compose a list of XI players, all the best in the world, all from brazil or argentina.

    ooooops.

That is just your wrong opinion, my friend. Lets see:

If we were to list the 2 best national teams right now, they would be brazil and argentina.

If we were to list the 2 best players of all time, they would be Pele and Maradona.

If we see the list for the best players of the year, most of them (6) will be brazilians.

The national team who won more world cups? Brazil.

I would have much more arguments, but I think these are enough.

In goal, we'd have the UNPENETRABLE Abbondanzerri giving up goals left and right.

Backline - Cafu Ayala Heinze Roberto Carlos

Mid - Cesar Delgado Kaka Ronaldinho Kily

    Strikeforce - Adriano and Ronaldo

Aside from Heinze, Kily and El Pato in goal, this would be an ideal XI that would probably romp most international teams.

Sub out Kily and throw Ronaldinho slightly in front-and-to-the-left of Kaka with Mascherano in front of the "back 4".

    Humorous to say the least.

Not to mention Deco if he weren't obviously cap-tied with Portugal.

    Not too shabby.

But not my ideal world XI.

    Mine? Simple.

    Mexico.

    :D

    Commence the flaming.

Maybe off YOUR ideal XI, not mine.

Aimar can't hold Ronaldinho's jock strap.

And who would Saviola start in front of?

    Adriano? Are you kidding me?

    Ronaldo? Let's not even begin.

Don't get me wrong. I like Saviola, Aimar and Tevez. But I don't think they would start over those 3.

Brazil's frontline is just way too powerful.

Now it's not only for the money but for status that some players go to Europe. What's the future of someone like an ex-Vasco player that was happy to play in Israel??? Maybe if our players could stay at our countries teams, River, Boca, Santos, Deportivo Cali, Sao Paulo and many others in South America could be even better than Milan or Real Madrid.

That's true! But power isn't everything. You also need the finesse of the Argentines as well as the power of the brazilians.

Your starting eleven have the power to create more shots "on" goal but having some players with more finesse they would have more shots "in" goal.
