Somehow, some way, this is Israel's fault. Right?

It's obviously because all Western govrenments are controlled by a collection of Jews operating within each country, who in turn report to a small council of rabbis living in a secluded cabin in the Swiss Alps.

Lately that is just being redundant. When was the last good case of Catholic terrorism? The IRA has been somewhat low key lately.

    Re: a better title

Didn't know they were Chechens when I posted the article (it's now been confirmed), that was just my suspicion.

    I suspect quite a bit...

Any truth to the rumors that he's going to step down and Jerry Seinfeld will take his place?

Is anyone watching this? I'm not going to criticize the sniper coverage, but this is huge and it's a blip at the moment. 600 or so hostages. Fifty or so terrorists. A ton of explosives. The only option I see is for Putin to threaten Chechnya with a serious civilian bombing raids, possibly even a nuclear retaliation However it ends, I don't think this is going to end well.

I mean, I want to think I'm being hysterical, but I don't see many good options if you're the Russians, exceptto threaten mass death on the Chechens.

This is very similar to Munich, but on a much larger scale. Most of the athletes in Munich regarded themselves as dead the minute that they were taken hostage. I wonder what these peoople are thinking?

The mujahadin is looking for martyrdom. This will turn out VERY badly. Putin ordered strikes into chechen territory as his 1st act as president and he will not stand for terrorist extorting the Govt. Paratroopers will storm the theatre b4 too long as pressure mounts and it will be a blood bath worse than anything we've seen in yrs.

This is yet another example of the real war on terrorism and implicates the unimportance of Iraq.

Putin should take a page out of Uncle Joe's book and pack all 1.2 millions Chechens up and disperse them around Siberia. Lets see how you like Islamic fundamentalism when you're trying to graze sheep at -30°C.

WTF are you talking about????? Where do you get the idea that this are muslim extremists. I believe it's about Chechenia (or however you write it in English) and Russia.

And I also believe it's the Russians that started this war. I thought you Americans were so concerned with freedom? Ofcourse this is an 'evil' terrorist deed but let's not talk BS about muslim extremists.
And let's not pretend that the Russians are on the good side here.

The things some people say here are absurd.

One of the first things they did was release all muslims hostages from the theater.

    Notice a pattern:

180 killed in explosion in Bali (muslim extremists)
    3,000 killed 9/11 (muslim extremists)
700 taken hostage in Moscow theater (muslim extremists)
Attack on Indian paraliment (muslim extremists)
    >10,000 killed in Kasmihr (muslim extrmists)
Numerous kidnappings of non-Muslims in Phillipines (muslim extremists)
Bombings of Christian churches in Indonesia, Pakistan (muslim extremists)
Destruction of Buddist statues in Afganistan (muslim extremists)
DC sniper 12 killed (muslim extremist)
Destruction of Synagoug in Tunisa 12 killed (muslim extremits)

    It appears to be:
    muslim extremist vs. hindus
    muslim extremist vs. buddists
    muslim extremist vs. christians
    muslim extremist vs. jews
    muslim extremist vs. muslim moderates
muslim extremist vs. anyone living next to them
    muslim extremist vs. life itself

In one of the tapes, apparently made before Wednesday night's assault, a man wearing a black wool cap said the rebels were on a "martyrdom operation with orders from the military commander of the Republic of Chechnya."

"I swear by God we are more keen on dying than you are keen on living," he said.

In a second tape, five women wearing veils stood before a banner proclaiming in Arabic, "God is great."

"We have chosen this path, the path of struggling for the freedom of the Chechen," one woman said. "It makes no difference for us where we will die. We have chosen to die here, in Moscow, and we will take the lives of hundreds of the infidels with us."

    ----------

This qualifies as yet another case of Muslim terrorism.

In my opinion this doesn't have much to do with muslim extremist. The Chechens in their opinion are tired of Russian occupation in their country (I don't necessarily agree with this statement).

Russia has been fighting a war (the second war) in Chechyna for the last three years.

In no way do I support the Chechens and what they are doing in Moscow and the other acts of violence they have committed over the years. I just have been following the story about Russia/Chechyna over the past few years with great interest.

I'm sorry, haven't really been following the news about the DC sniper this morning. Has this been proven, because as of last night I heard that it hasn't. It was all speculation. The man happened to be a muslim, that is all I heard.

Looks to me like unchecked globalization finally found a lethal enemy.

Suddenly the rich north wishes it had little anarchist protesters about. Water cannons were a nice solution we all said. "Let these foolish people fight neoliberalism with picket signs and sticks with which to smash McDonald's and Starbucks," they said.

Folks, it's all come home to roost and your disguising it as extraterritorial issues with racist and prejudiced responses merely make it worse.

Trying to relate Chechyna and Russia's problems to McD's and Starbucks isn't making anything better either.

I think the conflict predates the Big Mac invasion.

What is this gibberish? Do you actually believe this (Chechnya) is about globalization? Or is this simply another opportunity to blame the worlds problems on all those dirty western capitalists?

News flash: The people with the guns, grenades, and hostages in Moscow are Muslim terrorists. Chechen "freedom fighters" have trained in al-Qaeda camps to better fight infidels and spread their own brand of Islam.

This is going to end in a bloody mess, and I expect Russia to crack down harshly in Chechnya. The murdering idiots that undertake these kinds of actions bring it upon themselves, and fully deserve what they get.
