Five members of a Mexican gang that ran roughshod over a Bronx neighborhood were busted yesterday under a new anti-terror law, officials said.
Gangbangers from the St. James Boys, who were involved in the notorious 2002 slaying of a 10-year-old girl at a christening celebration, were brought down by a state statute targeting terrorists.
"The obvious need for this statute is to protect society against acts of political terror," Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson said. "However, the terror perpetrated by gangs ... all too often occurs on the streets of New York."

Terrorism is defined as the "systematic use of terror...." If these gang members used fear, which they usually do, then it's a stretch, but I can see it.

I know anti-gang legislation tends to be overturned, but isn't RICO still on the books?

In any case, this guy is a grandstanding assclown. For one thing, if the courts say these guys aren't terrorists - and reality check, people, they're not - then these gang members walk free.
