Jason McCartney an Aussie Rules player with North Melbourne Kangaroos in the Australian Football League (AFL) is making his big league comeback this week, after a number of games for their "minor league" team Port Melbourne.

    So what?

He is a survivor of the terrorist bombing in Bali last October.

He suffered critical burns to his body as he went back into the wreckage to drag people out, and spent a long time in hospital. For his comeback he will be wearing special pressure bandages on his arms and legs which are still healing.

The AFL has given special permission for him to wear number 88 on his jersey - in rememberence of the 88 Australians killed in the bombing.

    Good luck to him.

Its just been announced that he will now be wearing the number 88/202 on the front of his jersey, and his normal number 5 on the back.

The 202 represents the total number killed from all countries.

Well the good news is he played, and went OK - kicked a goal and got an "assist" for the winning goal in the last minute or so.

They had the two girls that he dragged out of the fire in the crowd, as well as representatives of all the other football and rugby teams who had players killed in the bombing.

The bad news is that they beat my team!! (only joking)

The real bad news is that Jason then announced his retirement.

Details are at the AFL website - www.afl.com.au and at the North Melbourne website www.kangaroosfc.com.au
