It looks like tennis will be competing with MLS on tv this summer. They are looking for a "few select companies" to be their exclusive sponsor. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...ap/20040420/ap_on_sp_te_ne/ten_us_open_series
Telecasts of semifinals and finals will be slotted for 4-6 p.m. EDT throughout the six-week series. In the past, there was no consistent time slot for television coverage of these tournaments. Well, that could be a bit of a problem. As could this... CBS will air matches from at least two of The US Open Series tournaments, ESPN will televise seven events, and NBC one. That will give tennis 100 hours of coverage on national television over the six-week series. Of course, if ESPN here means "ESPN" and not "ESPN and/or ESPN2," it's not much to worry about.
They've been tryng to get their house in order on so many fronts for many years. Someone will bitch to screw it up or the big players won't care about the bonus money and not participate.
