Nerry's dad wants Nerry to play for Mexico only if he gets called up to the "mayor" and not the Olympic team. that's pretty dumb cuz the guy is only like 19 or 20 years old. he has to start out small before moving up. but most likely Lavolpe will indeed use him for Copa America.

I think it could have to do with his dad not having confidence in his son's game. He thinks he might not cut it at the Olympics so there goes his chance to getting called up to the big team and his leverage in dealing with Panathanaikos for a new contract.

Hi everyone! I'm new in this board!
I'm from Greece and I support the Greek team called A.E.K Athens! I don't think you've ever heard of it but anyway!
I want to tell you some things about that dude Castillo who plays for Olympiacos SFP.
First of all, he didn't play in the first team(11) team of Olympiacos and he would just play "sometimes" as a substitution!
He is not one of the best players of the team and he is not good enough to be playing for Mexico's national team! He is not compared with Borgetti, Bravo, Bautista etc! No way!
Some days ago before Chivas' asked for him, everyone from Olympiacos was saying about teaching Castillo some things about football because he is not ready and good to play in the first team so they were thinking that they should keep him because he is still young and he could become a lot better than he certainly is now!
    I like
Chivas and Mexico a lot, so I don't think that Castillo should be bought for Chivas nor Mexico! I never been to Mexico but somehow I like it and feel like it's my second country.. Don't know why though...
    Anyway..
Olympiacos sold Giovanni to Santos(de Brazil), if you know him... he is a Center Forward player and he was pretty good and I am sure he is doing a good job in his country but I don't think that Castillo will do the same in Mexico for Chivas. What I believe will happen is that Chivas will buy him.. try him in several games or may be more than 5! See that he is not good enough for the team, and then have him as a substitution and I'm sure that the management will regret their mistake.

That's all I had to say!
    Thanks from Greece

Concidering the fact that you've seen him play alot more than any of us in this forum your words should hold some weight..though i honestly doubt that he's as bad as you're making out to be. i suppose time will tell.

Another thing that took me by surprise is they know about Bravo in Greece never thought he had much international proyection Bofo's case doesnt surprise me that much.

I agree with you on that one But remember Nery when playing for Chivas will have a first postition and plenty of playing time before the world cup practice makes perfect they say!

Not too much; Vergara has said (and I liked that) that Nery was meant to be a player for the future, he's supposed to play when Morales (and Bravo) goes to the World Cup...

...I don't expect Nery to be a superstar, I expect him to be a good option when coming out of the bench, and maybe -maybe- to become a great player later.
And I'm happy with that signing.

Yes, Walter Centeno and Wright, plaied for A.E.K. Athens in the past.. and in 2002, A.E.K Athens VS Real Madrid - 3-3 .... Real Madrid VS A.E.K Athens - 2-2 and Centeno scored a goal there in bernabeau! :p
Well at the moment I wouldnt say that Castillo would be a good player for Chivas but you might know better!
No, in Greece they don't know "ANY MEXICAN" soccer player... they don't know bofo or anyone... they just know marquez but just as Barcelona's player not as a Mexican International... I just know bofo, borgetti, bravo, sanchez etc because i like mexican international team.. hehe

Nice to see foreign fans appreciating mexican soccer. I have a couple of greek classmates at school they transfered from the ULV Athens campus after it closed down. They don't know very much about Mexican soccer at all.

    hehe cool...
Well yeah, when I play Pro Evolution Soccer 5 on PS2, my friends choose like: Brazil, England, Italy, Argentina, France... and I only choose Mexico!
They laugh at me and they say: haha I got Brazil and he chosen Mexico! ahah
and I tell them that Mexico is better than Brazil and Mexico beaten Brazil a lot of times in the past! They look at me strangely and say: But how come? Mexico hasn't got too good statistics in the game!!! ? And I tell them that the game's creators are stupid and should have made Mexico with better stats!
hehe anyway! I like Chivas from Mexico and i don't like Pumas! lol :D Viva los Chivas!!!! :D Orale hermanos!
hehe i like mexican ppl but there are no mexicans here so i don't have mexican friends! :/ :p

We didn't do well at the confederations cup... we had many players not playing and it wasn't very good for us...!
We did good at Euro 2004 in Portugal.
