Telemundo should either get on Satellite or soccer execs should stop putting games on it. Most of the country can't get it. A case in point is the recent USA vs. Jamaica mens game. Not only did I miss it but Grant Wahl and Marc Conolly missed it as well. Another case in point is MLS games. Shootout subscribers lose one game per week to the Telemundo black hole. At least they could put the Telemundo games on the Shootout. I don't mind the Spanish. If the games were on Galavision or Univision, that would be OK because I get those. Telemundo sucks, though, because a lot of people don't get it.
And Telemundo is "on satellite". You have to pay extra for it via the Dish Latino package, but it's there.
Telemundo cares about soccer more than espn don't you think its a good thing for us the soccer fans ?
here in good old neuva jersey, we get telemundo, univision AND telefutura! woo hoo! now if i could only speak espanol......
I've got Dish. I got it so I could watch soccer. Dish gets Univision and Galavision but not Telemundo. That's the frustrating part, plus I get them mixed up sometimes. For Jamaica I thought I could get it on Dish right up until gametime. Then I realized that Telemundo is the one I don't get. I'm not a columnist, unless you call ranting on BigSoccer being a columnist.
Connelly and Wahl should get a dish. They can get the same one you have and get the Latino Dos package. http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/..._dos/index.asp?viewby=1&packid=10099&sortby=1
Call your Cable Company or DirectTV or Dish and asked them to carry Telemundo. Telemundo is benefiting from the NBC acquisition. Their programming is getting better by the day. Norberto Longo is the one who sucks... He always has.. He always will...
Re: Re: Telemundo I forgot. Actually, Wahl saw the game. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/inside_game/grant_wahl/news/2003/02/13/wahl_soccer/
I have Dish and get Telemundo on the local stations package. Check to see if your local Telemundo is part of your local channel package.
There's a complete station list here: http://www.telemundo.com/static/stations.htm Jeff also mentioned in his last column that Galavision and Telefutura will carry the WYC and added, "Don’t ask me how you get these stations, but I promise they are “get-able” if you’re hardcore enough." These nets also carry a fair amount of Concacaf action. Right now they're carrying the UNCAF tourney and I think they'll have the GC as well (not sure about that). I'm not sure it's really that much harder to get these nets than it is to get FSW, but it's worth your while if you do.
I take a different tactic with telemundo on DISH. Any time there is a game on Telemundo that I want to watch, I simply treat it like PPV. I order Dish Latino the same day of the game and cancel it as soon as the game is over. It ends up being slightly more than $5 for any game I want to watch, which is usually only stray US games I can't see elsewhere. Andy
Telefutura, like Telemundo, is available over-the-air in most major markets, especially in the Southwest. And Galavision is part of most basic packages on DirecTV and DISH. You can also get it on a lot of cable systems, particularly in the Southwest.
sorry, Minnesota... Some of us are just spoiled. I get Univision, Telefutura, Galavision, Telemundo, Azteca America, FSW, and FSE all on my basic cable tier. There are all sorts of advantages to living in large Hispanic commuities.
Re: sorry, Minnesota... OMG!!! where do you live? who's your cable carrier? BTW, Telemundo and Univision, along with some PAX and UPN, are available if you have an MPEG2/DVB receiver and a 30" dish. The satellite is Anik E1 (at 119W, same slot as Dish Network and DirecTV's Para Todos bird). They are mostly affliates in the Mountain Time Zone. In other words, the USA/Jamaica game was shown at 10:30 PST or 01:30 EST on KTEL, the Carlsbad Telemundo. http://www.lyngsat.com/anike1.shtml
rangers00, I live in inner-city Houston and my carrier is something called TVMAX. Never even heard of it until I moved last year, but it's apparently some outfit that only provides service to large apt or condo complexes in big cities. Their listings are a little out of date (at least for Houston), but here they are: http://www.tvmax.com/Locations.htm Of course, this is Houston, so most people get most of the Spanish-language stations in some way.
Word. I'll back this as a tried and true method. Saw one of the US-Mex friendlies that way a while back (I think the one in Denver).
I would watch the soccer on Telemundo, like the recent USA-Jamaica friendly that was exclusively on that station or like MLS games used to be. Or Mexican National Team games if they have them. I would have watched Mex vs Columbia. Mpls/St. Paul doesn't have a local Telemundo affiliate so we can't get it on our local stations. From a quick look at their list of affiliates we are the second largest US market they don't cover. Looks like Detroit is the largest. We are just slightly larger that St. Louis in metro area population. I like the idea of getting the Dish Espanol and then cancelling right away for $5.
Here in the suburbs of Los Angeles I have: Rabbit ears: Univision, Telemundo, Azteca America, Telefutura, local KWHY channel 22 who was purchased by Telemundo and will be showing some matches. Cable: Galavision, Fox Sports World Cousins house a few blocks over: Mun2, Fox Sports World Espanol, and a slew of other channels that show South American soccer. Wish list: all new channels that will be showing soccer. I love living in Los Angeles
Columbus does not have any Spanish-speaking stations on any of its cable systems. However, with the Spanish-speaking population rapidly growing, I don't think it will be too long before stations will be carried.
Wow, I didn't realize how lucky I was to have Telemumdo on my analog cable system here in my fair city.
