the commercial is simply called "USA vs Mexico: La Revancha" (the revenge)

i remember the last time telemundo advertised a game such way, the alltime classic in columbus where the usa beat mexico 2-0.

telemundo advertised it a lot, their commercial was named "USA vs Mexico: La Guerra Fria" (the cold war) which was a reference to the cold climate expected that day in columbus.

just thought i'd post this he he he

they also promoted the classic game in the aztec, during qualifying where mexico won 1-0 on a beautiful header by Jared Borguetti off of a free kick. Funny how you don't remember that.

they also called that one "La Revancha". You wonder if the roles had been reversed would they have been talking about the US getting revenge in a rematch. My guess? No, senor.

You'd better remember that goal, Tecos. What other goals have the Mexies scored against us in the last 5 matches?

Ok I want to hear from you after the game in may, we'll see who scores the goals then. After all what matters is the present not the past.

They also promoted the classic game in the Japorea, during the World Cup where the AMERICANS won 2-0. Funny how you don't remember that.

The game in May is a Friendly. It is not a World Cup Qualifier and it is certainly not a World Cup match. If anyone thinks a Mexico victory would be revenge they are on crack. True revenge can only come in a World Cup. At least until 2006 Mexico is second fiddle to the U.S.

Nobody said anything about revenge, just that what happened- happened. Lets look toward the future of both teams. But how about Argentina in the last world cup? la brujita.

Yah all cant be too stupid NOT to realise that the tag lines are meant for the non Mexican community to tune to the match because the game will be showned during their regular broadcast of whatever Telenovela (Soap Opera) is on at the moment.. Mexicans in general dont care who the opponent is, just name the time and place and they will be there in full force to support the Tricolor..

your best bet is to convert the central and south americans into being USMNT fans. They want to see Mexico lose just as much.

I remember that! I remember the Mexican coach going bughouse during the game, wandering outside the 'technico' area, ranting and putting on a show.

Shoulda been carded, but what the hey. Homer rules.

I've never heard "revancha", just "venganza". Is that one of those Spanglish words?

I disagree that the only game that matters is the next World Cup match, but this game won't matter much. Yeah, there's Mexican pride at stake, but it's likely that Arena won't place a lot of concern in the game.

The next game between the two teams that will really matter is the next TFC qualifier they play, unless we play them in El Azteca again before then. If that happens, a USA win or even a draw would be unacceptable.

Give Telemundo credit for promoting the game hell I am gonna watch it on Telemudo live fugg a tape delay(ESPN2 Ya just don't get it-sure you have other programing but c'mon) wait a minute went to see what is on instead of the Classico and it says:7:55 pm
USA MEN'S NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM: MEXICO VS. USA
Is this legit ? I thought it was gonna be tape delayed? Oh well does not matter can't deal with Rob Stone God I thought I would never say it but bring back Jack. Stone is like that geek arse actor who played Robin in Battman movie(someone fill me in I am not a big Hollywood fan). Anyways I'll still watch Telemundo too bad there will be no Norberto Longo(R.I.P.)best color commentator I've heard(from what little Spanish I understand-hell my wife is Peruvian I should be fluent but she does not speak enough in Spanish). Props to Telemundo and hopefully Mex and the US bring close to full strength squads.

Longo the best color man? WTF? With all due respect to the dearly departed, he was filled with vitriol for anything remotely connected to team USA, and was an incredibly biased Mexico homer. Hopefully Cantor's next partner will be a little better in that department.

Someone should've told the US security folks at the airport in LA. ;)

Brazil flew into LA this morning from Sao Paulo before heading to Guadalajara. Zagallo's visa to enter the US was, for some reason, apparently issued in Saudi Arabia and that got the attention of US authorities. Suspecting that the 72 year old, four-time world champion may have posed a threat, they made him take off his shoes, tie, and coat and then took him to a separate room for questioning.

Zagallo's comment on the Kafkaesque episode (roughly translated): "Dammit, they can't find Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein, but they want me."

And then poor Zagallo was the only member of the Brazilian delegation who had to open his bags for inspection by Mexican customs.

Zagallo: passaporte na mira de americanos

I think they will treat this game beyond a friendly and so do we, there'll be no friendly between these two countries, its a rivalry which become worse and worse when the time goes on.
