Countdown’s Bushed!: Torturous Information Edition Countdown: Mukasey’s FISA Fables - Lies or Admissions? Somebody in Congress really needs to bring this up....telecom immunity issue aside . As teh issue seems to be framed: is Mukasey lying or a major blunder occurred in gathering/putting intelligence information together prior to 9/11?
IIRC Mukasey was a federal judge. He has to know all about FISA laws and what could & couldn't be done. To say that somehow our hands were tied for monitoring calls originating OUTSIDE the U.S. is patently false. He's not under oath but he should be put under to clarify these ridiculous statements.
Agreed. The number of outright lies he told is disgusting. And based on his background, he cannot plead the ignorance card.
Finally. It looks like Congressman Conyers is trying to get some answers from Mukasey regarding his recent tall tale. http://www.speaker.gov/blog/?p=1254 It will be interesting to see if there's any real push.
That's the Congressional equivalent of saying, "we have a video that clearly shows your face as you set the paper bag full of dog **** alight on our front porch. What would you like us to do with it?"
