Dang, I didn't realize Whitbread sustained such a serious injury in that match. Too bad the kid had to go back to England...he was probably just starting to get used to interacting with teammates that spoke with American accents. That backline will miss him.
And this is exactly why English clubs do not like to send their reserve players to youth tourneys. And yet FIFA and federations (not just ours) keep demanding it.
Depends... I am a college soccer player in NC and I have recently suffered from a Quad tear, I tore the Rectus Femoris which is the largest muscle in the group..... The rehab time depends on what kind of tear it is, there are two kind's: a fascia tear, and a tendon tear... Fascia - the lining that seperates the two bi-pennate sections of the muscle... Tendon - the tendon attaching the muscle to the bone tears or ruptures... I had a 3/4 fascia tear and managed to play half a entire season with it, when i finally went to the doctor my recovery time was one monthof no full playing, a compression sleeve 24 hrs a day, and rehab techniqes like ultrasound and ice..... and I had to have the fluid drained from the tear b/c I had a form of hematoma form around the tear...but I dont think that is common... Tendon tear or rupture is a whole different thing, rupture you are looking and surgery and worst case scenario 6-7months off, tears are not as extensive only a couple months but sometimes if a tear is bad enough they will surgically repair it in anyway to prevent further complications down the road... so we will have to wait and see the results of his MRI before we know what to think, hopefully just a fascia tear and 3 weeks or so off... ?? if he doesnt play now, rehabs, gets to health before the olympics assuming we make it, can he return to the team and play??
He can, but the reality is that if we do manage to qualify, he might not mike the squad with the Euro players available and any overagers, who by Mooch's own words would likely be in defense. Basically Mooch is saying that Bocanegra would be a lock for the Olympic squad if he was available. Mooch wants to take overagers that aren't too far away from the rest of the team in age. Overagers? What do you mean? Can guys that are over 23 play in the olympics? Life is harsh. Besides, I'm sure everyone here wishes him well.
