One of the big issues here is they'd have to reduce their spending, by something like 25%. If the fines and ban holds, that is apparently 300m lost over two seasons. The club would be more then willing to pay it, but could they get back into the CL with those big losses on their books?
I doubt the ban holds at all, let alone 2 years. This is still a rare hilarious and enjoyable moment in football this season however.
https://www.espn.com/soccer/manches...manchester-city-players-after-uefa-ban-source The comments about Soriano and Begiristain's possible futures are pretty interesting. It is expected that someone will have to fall on their swords over this (and it clearly will not be Mubarak). But if it's Begiristain especially, that could have a great impact on Pep and his own future at the club considering how close they are.

If Manchester City have won trophies by CHEATING the system then we must put an asterisk against their success. A column by @Ian_Ladyman_DM, echoing a similar column a while ago by colleague Martin Samuel.https://t.co/vkN75rQWL5— Nick Harris (@sportingintel) February 14, 2020 I don't think there should be an asterisk, they simply ought to be stripped of any titles they've won in the time that has been proven they were cheating, which is believed to be from 2008 until 2014 or 15 (?). Lance Armstrong and all the cycling teams he was involved in from 1999 on suffered a similar fate after the doping accusations came to light. Don't see what is different for City, who are clearly guilty of financial doping. That would make far more sense to me that the FA deducting points in this year's table, which is meaningless anyway since they're already banned from all European competition.
Thing is with ffp, only a select few sides can spend big money which is just as shit as loads of billionaires maybe there should be some kind of cap that isn’t influenced by commercial success based on Chinese people buying strips etc by the way @Umar havent seen u post in a while
Spending what you make from football on your football club is exactly how it should be. The only limiting factor is the clubs own earning power, which is on them. Also this only applies to Europe. So you can spend as much money as your want in your own league. You'd just have to actually make financial sense once in Europe.
no idea where you get that idea. the Prem impose the same financial rules as UEFA FFP lays out, so there's an extremely high chance they will get penalized domestically as well. in fact the Prem rules say any club found guilty of what Shitty have been doing, will be relegated to League Two.
It just gives Utd a huge advantage over everyone else in the prem due to their success when sky happened to chuck a load of money at the game not great for parity in my opinion.
More sanctions on the horizon for City as the Premier League conduct their own investigation into the club's FFP breaches?. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...er-city-premier-league-sanctions-ffp-breaches
I thought the issues with the Prem is if City is lying like they are being accused of, you can't do that. Either way, FFP is a UEFA rule. Any rules by any domestic leagues are separate. If domestic leagues have started implementing such rules, good. I did not know the PL had started doing that.
FFP is only 'has a spine' to bully the small clubs. QPR in the championship get fined double what city get in the premier league. because that's logical right? big clubs are largely immune to this. don't get your hopes up. there will be no fire sale either. Agüero and Walker aside the rest of the dudes are young to wait out a 2 year thing. assuming it's even that long
Arsenal are getting a free ride from the critics compared to United - Luke Shaw https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/lu...aving-greatest-seasons-get-easy-ride-compared Perhaps because we are the most relevant club of the 2 (and just overall)? No real surprise there tbh, as whether we are successful or not, stories and coverage about Manchester United remains what is most prevalent and what sells (as the biggest club in England still to this day).
Something you have to wonder how he feels about tbh. His comment about him having to get thick skin and how people tend to forget what he's been thru, would suggest he thinks he's doing ok (presumably under the circumstances). Imagine he's referring to his leg break and while it's something pretty major he's done reasonably well to get over, it's no longer an excuse for his mediocre fitness and the lack of progress in his game at this point either. Particularly when you have a player like Williams to compete with. Someone who for all intents and purposes, already surpasses him in pretty much all depts.
Very good start of the game from Villa against Spurs. They really should been up 2-0 though. And of course, Spurs get the equalizer: great strike from Alderweireld, who redeems himself for the OG at the other end.
In a way yes, because Utd winning the league every year is pretty boring and shit for everyone else ffp has no effect on uefa pets like Barca and real etc it’s tedious
Watching Lazio v Inter. Some thoughts... Is there a more perfect example of a big fish, small pond type player than Immobile? Utter failure at any of the biggish clubs he's gone to but put him in a mid table Italian club and watch him lead the league in scoring. He seems to thrive off having no pressure or expectations. Also, the Serie A has been my favorite league to watch this season. Now that it's not Juve ahead by 30 pts by Xmas it's actually enjoyable again.
